Prof. Dafik, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Leads Morning Roll Call at the Beginning of 2026

Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., led the first morning roll call at the beginning of 2026 in the courtyard of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ) Dean’s Office (January 12th). The roll call officer was from the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. In his address, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences encouraged students to remain enthusiastic in carrying out their routine duties serving students in teaching and learning activities at the beginning of 2026. Earlier this year, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was again strengthened by a professor from the Mathematics Department who completed his term. “My teacher, Prof. Kusno from the Mathematics Department, has returned to his active role as a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences after serving for more than 10 years as Rector of the Mandalika University of Education (UNDIKMA) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB),” he said.

He stated that Prof. Kusno has been active and will assist the Faculty in achieving its future goals. For lecturers, there’s good news from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. “Ministerial Regulation No. 52 of 2025 concerning the profession, career, and income of lecturers is good news for lecturers, improving their welfare and clarifying their career paths, especially for promotion,” he said. Prof. Dafik hopes that lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) will immediately prepare for the promotion process, especially for professors. We are encouraging the Faculty to have a large number of professors. The Faculty has identified lecturers who are senior lecturers to assist in the application process for professorship, in line with the direction of the Rector of UNEJ.

He also touched on the development of the University of Jember’s PTN-BH (State Legal Entity University), which is expected to be realized soon. This status will impact the imminent opening of study programs at FMIPA UNEJ. “Two study programs at FMIPA have been approved by the UNEJ Senate: the undergraduate data science program and the doctoral program. With the PTN-BH UNEJ program, the opening will be as soon as possible,” he hoped. The new study program will increase the number of study programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), followed by other study programs prepared by the new study program task force team at FMIPA. Prof. Dafik also stated that lecturers over 50 years old are permitted to pursue doctoral studies at FMIPA.

At the end of the morning assembly, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ encouraged the entire academic community to continue giving their best to FMIPA. “Continue to develop yourselves, lecturers and staff work in harmony to advance FMIPA UNEJ, in accordance with the slogan of creativity, innovation, and achievement,” he concluded. As directed by the UNEJ Rector, morning assembly is held on the first Monday of the month. It is intended to jointly evaluate ongoing activities and convey plans for the advancement of each faculty. The morning assembly is attended by the entire academic community, with rotating officers from each department and the FMIPA UNEJ dean’s office.
