Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ presents Dr. M. Kamaraj, Associate Professor and HoD of Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities Ramapuram Campus, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India (9-11/10). A series of events for 3 days were officially opened by Dr. Retno Wimbaningrum, M.Si., as the Head of the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ. The first day began with a guest lecture agenda with the theme “Current biotechnology for environmental assessment and monitoring.” Moderated by Purwatiningsih, Ph.D., the lecture was attended by lecturers and biology students. “Biotechnology is changing the way we monitor and assess the environment using innovative, precise, and efficient tools,” began Dr. M. Kamaraj.
It is said that biotechnology is changing the way we monitor and assess the environment by offering innovative, precise, and efficient tools. “The application of this technology will improve sustainability efforts, encourage better resource management, and support environmental mitigation,” he continued. The guest lecture also provided an opportunity for discussion with participants. The next agenda item was a visit to the sub-labs in the Department of Biology such as ecology, zoology, botany, microbiology, and biotechnology. At the end of the first day’s agenda, Dr. M. Kamaraj was invited to visit the CDAST & IsDB building and met Prof. Dr. Bambang Sugiharto, M.AgrSc.
On the second day, Dr. M. Kamaraj, who was also the keynote speaker at the IBSC 2024 international seminar yesterday, gave a sharing session. The theme raised was “Current status of department in SRM Institute of Science and Technology for Assisting the Bright Future of Biology Department FMIPA UNEJ,” moderated by Dr. Asmoro Lelono. Similar to the previous day, the event was also attended by lecturers and students of the Department of Biology. After that, a workshop was continued with the managers of the Life Science & Biotechnology (LSB) journal.
The workshop thoroughly discussed strategies to improve the quality of LSB journals owned by the Department of BIology, FMIPA. The theme “Strategies for accelerating the journal quality in the department of biology” was discussed by Dr. M. Kamaraj with the chief and editorial board of the LSB Biology journal. Dr. rer. nat. Fuad Bahrul Ulum and team discussed with Dr. M. Kamaraj making LSB an internationally reputable journal of course with quality articles.
The last day at the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ, Dr. M. Kamaraj gave a speech with the theme “World-class laboratory facilities to accelerate international recognition of the Biology department” Moderated by Dr. rer. nat. Fuad Bahrul Ulum, the biology laboratory facilities are prepared to be world-class and recognized internationally. The end of the three-day agenda closed with a discussion on “Building collaboration through joint papers and joint lectures in life science and bioinformatics” Build collaboration of papers and lectures together and joint supervisors with Dr. M. Kamaraj’s campus.
