A Delegation of Mathematics Students from the FMIPA, University of Jember, Participated in the 2026 SATRIA DATA Competition.

Mathematics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ), participated in the 2026 Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (Satria Data) National Statistics Competition (NSC) at the Mathematics Laboratory 1, Department of Mathematics, FMIPA, University of Jember (18/7). Nine students participated in the NSC, and they had to solve problems on probability theory, statistical theory/mathematical statistics, and categorical data analysis. This year’s competition implemented the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) and the Hybrid Proctoring system to ensure the integrity and security of the exam. Previously, there was a preparation period and a CBT trial period held from July 10-17, 2026. During the competition, they were accompanied by lecturers from the Mathematics Department, Firda Fadri, S.Si., M.Si., and Nadia Kholifia, S.Si. M.Si.

Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. said that the annual Satria Data agenda will always be supported and there will be mentoring from competent lecturers. “We will support Satria Data from mentoring to supporting facilities, so that our students excel at the national level,” he said. Together with 62 students from the University of Jember delegation, mathematics students also participated in Satria Data 2026 in other fields, namely the Statistics Essay Competition (SEC), Statistics Infographic Competition (SIC), and Big Data Competition (BDC). Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period I, Academic Year 2026/2027

FMIPA UNEJ held the 120th Undergraduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period I, Academic Year 2026/2027 (17/7). Held at the Auditorium of the Physics Department, FMIPA, University of Jember. In the graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., conveyed congratulations and success for passing and graduating to the FMIPA judiciary. The Dean invited the judiciary to prepare themselves to face challenges after graduation by learning to convert lecture results into skills. “Become problem solvers in the form of skills, especially transferable skills, so you can enter all lines of work,” he began. After graduation, alumni are also expected to no longer depend on their parents.

Prof. Dafik said that FMIPA UNEJ alumni have the advantage of being able to enter all lines of work. “The broad scope of MIPA science is an asset for alumni, such as in the current era, they can enter programs launched by the Indonesian government,” he continued. Prof. Dafik advised the judiciary to continue upgrading their skills to seize golden opportunities in today’s digital era which requires more skills and always follow technological advances. The Dean of FMIPA led an open meeting of the Faculty of MIPA senate accompanied by the Vice Deans I and II of FMIPA. Dharma Wanita Persatuan FMIPA UNEJ Partners with Ethoz Food to Hold Dessert Demo

Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) FMIPA UNEJ together with Ethoz Food held a Dessert Demo for the FMIPA academic community (8/7). Held in the Physics Department Auditorium, the FMIPA community had the opportunity to watch a dessert-making demonstration. Ethoz Food brought in two Chefs at once, Chef Naufal and Chef Roby, sharing their knowledge of making desserts made from agar-agar and jelly powder. Three dessert dishes were demonstrated and directly practiced by representatives from DWP FMIPA. Ethoz Food also introduced its products that have been verified by the POM Agency and are of course Halal. Of course, what’s interesting is that participants can taste the results of the demonstration, get a goodie bag, and a door prize.

Previously, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. officially opened the Dessert Demo event initiated by the DWP FMIPA UNEJ. In his remarks, the Dean said that this cooking demo was a means of sharing recipes and also fostering camaraderie between the academic community and DWP FMIPA. “In Islamic teachings, the Al-Maidah letter mentions delicious dishes, so this event is appropriate so that all participants can gain new knowledge, especially about desserts,” he said. Gita Laras FMIPA participated in the 2026 Jember University Pancasila Month Choir Competition.

The Gita Laras FMIPA UNEJ Choir Team (padsu) participated in the Inter-Work Unit Choir Competition throughout the University of Jember at the 5th Floor of the Soejarwo Building (27/6). This year, the FMIPA padsu received lottery number 4 out of 19 participants who took part in the competition. After being opened by Prof. Dr. drg. Sri Hernawati, M.Kes. Vice Rector for Finance and General Affairs, Gita Laras performed two songs, the mandatory song Kulihat Ibu Pertiwi by Charles C, Ismail Marzuki and the Rote NTT regional song Mana Lolo Banda arranged by Yeremia Andika Putra. Gita Laras FMIPA is a padsu consisting of FMIPA lecturers and staff. The choir competition is a routine agenda of UNEJ to commemorate the Birth of Pancasila in 2026.

Wearing uniforms typical of the Rote region, Gita Laras FMIPA presented two songs in unison, earning a Silver Certificate. This performance was achieved after almost a full month of routine practice in between activities at the faculty. Accompanied by a coach, the FMIPA Padsu team trained in the afternoon to adjust their voices according to the score and movements to support their stage performance. The day before the competition, the Padsu team conducted a stage test or dress rehearsal to test the stage and team positions. The committee also gave the Padsu the opportunity to practice singing two songs that would be presented the following day. Continue reading

The Mathematics Department of FMIPA UNEJ held the 2026 National Seminar on Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, and Computation (SeNa-MaGeStiK)

The Mathematics Department of FMIPA UNEJ held the 2026 National Seminar on Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, and Computation (SeNa-MaGeStiK) (13/6). SeNa-MaGeStiK 2026 raised the theme “Peran Strategis Matematika dalam Hilirisasi Riset Berdampak bagi SDGs“. Kusbudiono, S.Si., M.Si., as the Chair of the Committee in his report at the plenary session said that SeNa-MaGeStiK 2026 presented 4 speakers, namely Prof. I Wayan Sudarsana, M.Si. from Tadulako University, Prof. Drs. Kusno, DEA., Ph.D. from Jember University, Ahmad Muklason, S.Kom., M.Sc., Ph.D. from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology and Dr. Alfian Futuhul Hadi, S.Si., M.Si. from Jember University. The National Seminar was held online and attended by 77 participants from various universities across Indonesia.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (UNEJ), Prof. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., highlighted three main points of the 2026 SeNa-MaGeStiK event. “At this second SeNa-MaGeStiK National Seminar held by the Mathematics Department of FMIPA, I highlight three main points: the strategic role of mathematics, impactful research, and sustainable development amidst today’s technological advances,” he said. Prof. Dafik also highlighted the role of mathematics in the development of artificial intelligence, which in this era is capable of producing results. “By creating prompts and simple algorithms, AI can already produce results. Therefore, through SeNa-MaGeStiK, we hope to involve mathematics in realizing impactful research and sustainable development,” he concluded. Continue reading

FMIPA UNEJ Partners with PT. Sinergi Gula Nusantara PG Glenmore to Offer Research, Internships, and Agro-Industry Innovation Opportunities

FMIPA UNEJ and PT. Sinergi Gula Nusantara PG Glenmore discussed a collaboration as a concrete step to strengthen synergy between higher education and industry (9/6). This collaboration is expected to support the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education while making a tangible contribution to the development of the science and technology-based agro-industry sector. FMIPA UNEJ remains committed to expanding its partnership network with various strategic sectors. This collaboration is part of an effort to provide learning that is relevant to the needs of the workplace and industrial developments.

Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., representing the Dean, stated that partnerships with industry are a crucial step in building an adaptive, innovative, and impactful educational ecosystem. “This collaboration opens up wider opportunities for lecturers and students to contribute directly to solving various challenges in the industrial sector, resulting in applied research, technological innovation, and human resource development,” she said.
