Dean of the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology (FPA), Universiti Technology MARA (UiTM) Malaysia, Prof. Ts. Dr. Azhan Hashim @ Ismail, and Head of the Center of Studies (Postgraduate), Dr. Zaiton Sapak, visited FMIPA UNEJ to strengthen cooperation (16/11). Also scheduled to meet with the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems at UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Bambang Kuswandi, M.Sc., Ph.D. Several collaborative activities have been carried out by the two institutions, including student exchanges and sharing lecture sessions. “The presence of Prof. Azhan and Dr. Zaiton will enhance the collaboration that we have agreed upon and some of which is currently ongoing,” said Deputy Dean I of FMIPA, Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D.
Prof. Azhan also agrees and hopes that the collaboration will become more widespread, such as the research collaboration between FPA UiTM and FMIPA UNEJ lecturers. “Collaboration must continue; visiting lecturers need to be carried out following our ongoing student exchanges,” he said. Several international seminar agendas can also be a forum for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions. Present at the meeting were Vice Dean II FMIPA Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean III Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Sc., and Head of Department at FMIPA UNEJ.
Dr. Zaiton Sapak, at the meeting, introduced the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology through a video profile. “FPA, also known as the Faculty of Agriculture and Agrotechnology, has a diploma, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or Ph.D. program,” she said. Dr. Zaiton Sapak, who has collaborated several times in lectures with Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. from Biology, also hopes that this activity can be carried out with other study programs at FMIPA UNEJ.
The delegation from FPA UiTM also scheduled an agenda to meet four of their students who are currently doing student exchange at FMIPA. UiTM FPA students in Jember are doing work experience at Puslit Kakao and Mitra Tani 27. They consist of Nurul Alya binti Hamdan, Wan Nur Hafizah binti Wan Mohamad Nor, Muhamad Zarul Ikhwan bin Roslan from the Agribusiness Program, and Siti Hajar Natashah binti Samsudin from the Plant Biotechnology Program.
FMIPA UNEJ also sends students to the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology University Teknologi MARA Malaysia. They come from 4 departments at FMIPA, namely Prima Harmadi from the Biology Department, Muhammad Ricy Romadhan from the Chemistry Department, Vanesya Damayanti from the Biology Department, and Jasmine Syafiyyah Annisa from the Mathematics Department. Their plan is to be in Malaysia from October 2023 to February 2024.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Dean I FMIPA UNEJ and Dean of FPA UiTM carried out a ceremonial cooperation agreement and exchanged souvenirs. Furthermore, when meeting with Vice Rector IV UNEJ Prof. Drs. Bambang Kuswandi, M.Sc., Ph.D., we also discussed cooperation with a broader scope. There are many collaborations that can be carried out by both students and teaching staff, including teaching and learning activities, research, and publications.
