The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team conducted a field assessment of the accreditation of the Chemistry Master’s Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. The Rector of the University of Jember, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., along with the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied the assessor team at the opening ceremony of the field assessment (January 28-29). The assessor team consisted of Prof. Dr. Eddy Heraldy, M.Sc. from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, and Prof. Tri Joko Raharjo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. from Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta.
In his opening remarks, Iwan Taruna expressed his hope that the Chemistry Master’s Program would achieve good accreditation results, despite its recent launch. “The Chemistry Master’s Program is relatively new and has not yet produced any graduates. I hope the assessors can give the best possible score based on the data compiled by the task force,” he said. The Rector explained that the field visit is a process for verifying accreditation documents, and in this era, it is faster because data can be retrieved from anywhere. “The visit is a process for verifying accreditation documents, and it serves as a platform for the task force to reassure the assessors. I hope it runs smoothly from start to finish,” he continued. The Rector officially opened the field assessment for the Chemistry Master’s Program. Present at the visit were leaders and representatives from supporting institutions at the University of Jember, such as the Institute for the Development of Information Technology (LPMPP), the Institute for the Development of Student Affairs (LP2M), the ICT Unit (UPA ICT), the Postgraduate Unit (UPA Library), and the Language Unit (UPA Bahasa).
Next, the Vice Rector I of UNEJ delivered a presentation on the University of Jember’s profile. Several UNEJ achievements and accomplishments, both nationally and internationally, were presented. “Recently, UNEJ has achieved many national and international achievements, including for students, lecturers, staff, and institutions,” explained Prof. Taruna. Slamin. The opening of new study programs, particularly postgraduate programs, at UNEJ continues to be expanded. Previously, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) echoed the UNEJ Rector’s hope that the Chemistry Master’s Program would achieve UNGUL accreditation. “Hopefully, the efforts of the Chemistry Master’s Program team will be a blessing, achieving the best possible result, namely UNGUL accreditation,” he hoped.
Prof. Dr. Eddy Heraldy, M.Si., and Prof. Tri Joko Raharjo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., at the opening of the accreditation field assessment, also expressed their hope that all sessions prepared over the two days would be carried out well and smoothly. “We hope that all sessions in the field assessment stage can be carried out well according to the uploaded LKPS data, and all based on existing guidelines,” said Prof. Dr. Eddy Heraldy, M.Si. Prof. Eddy advised that the opening of study programs should not only be for profit but also serve as a means of developing knowledge, especially basic science. The opening concluded with a photo session with the Rector, Vice Rector I, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and the LAMSAMA assessor team.
The first day of the visit began with a session with Faculty Leaders, Study Program Managers, and a team from the UNEJ Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (LPMPP). The presentation was led by the Dean and accompanied by the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. This was followed by a session with the Chemistry Master’s Program task force to confirm data from the Student Activity Sheet (LKPS) and the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS). After a break, the assessor team met with lecturers to confirm performance, involvement, service, and satisfaction. The next session was with students in the Chemistry Master’s Program. The first day of the visit concluded with a session with the educational staff.
The second day began with an inspection of the Chemistry Master’s Program facilities and infrastructure.
