New Student Inauguration Concludes the PPMB 2026 at the FMIPA UNEJ

Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, officially concluded the 2026 Faculty-level Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Mahasiswa Baru (PPMB) program on September 13. The event culminated in an inauguration night featuring an arts performance by the new students. The 2026 PPMB program covered topics such as PKM, ONMIPA, PPK ORMAWA, PKM mentoring, and a UKM expo. “With the material provided, students are expected to keep learning without giving up in order to achieve success,” the Dean stated. In the current era, students must become autonomous learners taking initiative and responsibility for their studies rather than relying solely on instructors or lecturers.

The Dean of the FMIPA UNEJ stated that new students are expected to learn not only about their specific scientific disciplines but also about a wide range of subjects, aiming to become multitalented individuals. “To truly shine, you must master various areas; that radiance will emanate from the knowledge you possess within yourself,” he remarked. Prof. Dafik also highlighted “ARUNIKA” signifying the first rays of light after sunrise as well as the 2026 PPMB theme: Melangkah Bersama, Menembus Cakrawala. “With the spirit of ARUNIKA, new students must put these values ​​into practice and pursue their studies at FMIPA with enthusiasm, so that they may attain a future filled with the light of new hope,” he concluded. Supporting the Success of PEKSIMINAS XVIII 2026: FMIPA UNEJ to Host the Playwriting Competition Category

Universitas Jember is hosting the Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Nasional (PEKSIMINAS) XVIII in 2026, taking place from September 7 to 11, 2026. This national event brings together top talent from 34 provinces to compete across 15 competition categories. The theme for PEKSIMINAS 2026 is “PEKSIMINAS Bergerak, Seni Berdampak” PEKSIMINAS is a recurring event organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology) in collaboration with the Badan Pembina Seni Mahasiswa Indonesia (BPSMI). The FMIPA UNEJ has been entrusted to host the Playwriting competition category.

The series of activities began with a technical meeting on September 8, 2026, led directly by the three-member panel of judges. This meeting served as a forum to align understanding regarding competition mechanics, rules, and judging criteria, ensuring all participants shared a common understanding before the competition commenced. Participants and accompanying personnel had the opportunity to interact with the judges and the organizing committee to ensure the event would be conducted in an orderly and professional manner. The Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Opens the Event and Inducts New Students at the PPMB FMIPA UNEJ 2026

Held at the FMIPA UNEJ parking lot, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), officially opened the 2026 New Student Guidance and Development (PPMB) program for the University of Jember’s FMIPA (5/9). “Welcome to FMIPA; I hope this year’s PPMB brings about tangible breakthroughs through the introduction of programs such as PPK Ormawa, PKM, and Satria Data, ultimately resulting in the creation of prototypes,” he began. Citing the FMIPA motto “Create, Innovate, Achieve” the Dean emphasized that students should not stop at mere written outputs or simulations. “Do not simply produce concepts or settle for simulations; instead, continue to develop your work and leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to create actual prototypes,” he advised.

The Dean also encouraged students to utilize AI to support their studies, aiming to enhance efficiency and accessibility. “FMIPA students must be capable of becoming AI agents, given their strong foundational knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as data science,” he expressed. The remarks concluded with the FMIPA UNEJ slogan: “Berkreasi, Berinovasi, Berprestasi” Attendees at the opening ceremony included the Vice Dean for Student Affairs (Vice Dean III), department heads, and the leaders of student associations (HMJ) and student organizations (ORMAWA) within FMIPA. FMIPA UNEJ Team Participates in TAJEMTRA 2026, Championing the Spirit of Creativity, Innovation, and Achievement

The 2026 TAJEMTRA (Tanggul-Jember Traditional Walking Event) an annual tradition organized by the Jember Regency Government took place once again. Comprising educational support staff, the FMIPA team participated in the 30-kilometer walk from Tanggul to Jember on September 5. This year, the team proudly displayed a banner featuring the FMIPA UNEJ motto: Creating, Innovating, and Achieving. “While participating in the walk, the FMIPA team aimed to introduce FMIPA UNEJ to the people of Jember as a training ground for aspiring young scientists,” stated Verry, the FMIPA UNEJ team coordinator. Leadership provided both material and moral support, including seeing the FMIPA UNEJ team off at the start of the event.

Starting from Embankment and finishing at Alun-Alun Jember, the FMIPA UNEJ team together with more than 26 thousand TAJEMTRA 2026 participants went through a journey that was launched directly by the Regent of Jember Dr. Muhammad Fawait, S.E, M.Sc. Along the route, local residents were also enthusiastic in providing support by providing drinking water and cheering. In his mandate, the Regent asked that TAJEMTRA 2026 carry a message of togetherness and mutual cooperation that needs to be maintained. The Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. University of Jember’s Internal Audit Unit Conducts Performance Audit Visit at FMIPA, Strengthening Accountability and Quality Culture

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember hosted a Phase IV performance audit visit conducted by the university’s Internal Audit Unit (SPI) on September 3–4. This audit activity is part of the SPI’s performance audit agenda, covering areas such as finance, human resources (HR), the procurement of goods and services, state-owned assets, and Quality Management Systems (QMS/SMAP). The visit aimed to ensure that organizational governance aligns with the principles of accountability, transparency, and continuous quality improvement. For each area, the UNEJ SPI team provided assistance by verifying data completeness and offering recommendations regarding governance practices.

In opening the event, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. delivered opening remarks while representing the Dean of FMIPA, who was unable to attend. Prof. Hari emphasized that the internal audit serves as a crucial opportunity to evaluate and strengthen the faculty’s governance. “We welcome the UNEJ Internal Supervisory Unit (SPI) team. We appreciate the conduct of this audit and hope that the FMIPA team provides data and information openly, ensuring the audit process runs smoothly and serves as a basis for evaluating and improving the quality of FMIPA’s governance,” said Prof. Hari. Yudicium Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember Period II, Academic Year 2026/2027

FMIPA UNEJ held its 121st graduation ceremony (Period II, Academic Year 2026/2027) on August 21. The event took place in the Physics Department Auditorium at the faculty. In his address, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their studies. He noted that this particular ceremony was special as it coincided with the atmosphere of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations. “During this moment of independence, I urge the graduates to contribute meaningfully by preparing themselves to strive in the economic sector,” he began. He encouraged them to hone their skills to complement the cognitive abilities they had acquired during their studies at FMIPA.

Prof. Dafik stated that FMIPA UNEJ alumni must be able to combine their cognitive knowledge with practical skills to prepare for their entry into society. “By combining cognitive abilities integrated with modern advancements like AI and honed skills, graduates can not only find employment but also create jobs themselves,” he continued. Citing the FMIPA “3.5 to the power of 4” tagline, Prof. Dafik urged graduates that it is time to stop being a financial burden on their parents. The Dean of FMIPA presided over the open meeting of the Faculty Senate, accompanied by the Vice Dean II and Vice Dean III.
