In preparation for the 2026 PKKMB, the Dean of the FMIPA UNEJ urged the committee to provide friendly, violence-free service to new students

“Let us welcome the 2026 FMIPA new students with friendly service and, in accordance with the UNEJ Rector’s directive, ensure the orientation is free from any form of violence,” stated Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, during the coordination meeting for the 2026 FMIPA PKKMB committee (4/8). The Dean also encouraged the committee to provide excellent service to ensure a positive first impression for the new students. “A friendly smile will help new students feel at ease; continue providing excellent service, ensure facilities and infrastructure are ready, and make cleanliness a priority,” he remarked. The Dean also expressed hope that student mentors would adopt the same approach when guiding the new students.

The University of Jember is committed to a violence-free orientation, as evidenced by the signing of the Integrity Pact for the 2026 PKKMB during the routine Harmoni Pagi event at the FKIP. UNEJ Rector Iwan Taruna conveyed five messages regarding the implementation of the PKKMB, with the final message emphasizing the creation of an environment safe from all forms of violence. Addressing the deans in attendance, Iwan Taruna stressed that the 2026 UNEJ PKKMB must be free from any violence. Physics Representatives from FMIPA UNEJ Attend International PHITS Workshop and Tutorial 2026 in Bali to Strengthen Medical Physics Competence

Representatives from the Physics Study Program at the FMIPA UNEJ, participated in the International PHITS Workshop and Tutorial 2026 held at Udayana University in Denpasar, Bali. This international workshop a collaboration between the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and Udayana University served as a platform for sharing knowledge on radiation simulation technology advancements and cancer therapy innovations based on the Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) software. World-renowned experts attended the event, including Prof. Tatsuhiko Sato (the developer of PHITS) and Dr. Yoshihito Kameda from Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd., alongside participants from various countries.

The participation of the FMIPA UNEJ Physics representatives was part of an effort to enhance human resource capacity in medical physics and nuclear technology in preparation for the launch of a new study program at FMIPA. Participants gained in-depth understanding regarding the use of PHITS for radiation simulation and dosimetry, as well as the development of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), an emerging cancer therapy technology globally. In addition to attending scientific sessions, participants had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with international researchers regarding research collaboration opportunities and innovation development in Indonesia. FMIPA UNEJ and PT Autore Pearl Culture Initiative Realizes Sustainable Coral Reef Restoration in Banyuwangi

Marine ecosystem conservation efforts initiated by the FMIPA UNEJ in partnership with PT Autore Pearl Culture are yielding promising results. Two months after the planting of 750 coral reef seedlings in the waters of Tanjung Sekeben (Tembokrejo, Muncar, Banyuwangi Regency) specifically in May 2026 the underwater ecosystem is beginning to recover. Various species of reef fish have returned to inhabit the transplantation area, serving as an indicator of improved habitat quality. This program is also supported by the Banyuwangi Naval Base, the Muncar Fishing Port Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the East Java Marine and Fisheries Agency, and local fishermen groups.

Dr. Ratna Dewi Syarifah, S.Pd., M.Si., head of the FMIPA UNEJ Coral Reef Restoration Team, explained that field monitoring results indicate an excellent survival rate for the coral reef seedlings. “We are grateful to see the positive developments at the transplantation site. The reappearance of various reef fish species indicates that the transplantation method we implemented is accelerating the natural habitat recovery process. This demonstrates that collaboration among universities, the industrial sector, the government, and the community can deliver tangible impacts on the sustainability of coastal ecosystems,” she stated. FMIPA UNEJ Strengthens Healthy Living Culture through Regular Exercise and Implements GERMAS

FMIPA UNEJ continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy, productive, and harmonious campus environment through the implementation of the Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (GERMAS) sports program. This routine activity every Wednesday begins at 3:00 PM WIB at the FMIPA Field. It began with group exercise attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, education staff, and students (22/7). With a beautiful campus atmosphere and full of togetherness, participants participated in each series of sports as part of the implementation of GERMAS, which was launched by the government to cultivate physical activity in everyday life.

Vice Dean II of FMIPA UNEJ, Dr. Esti Utarti, S.P., M.Si. said that this activity is a form of the faculty’s commitment to supporting the creation of a healthy and comfortable campus for the entire academic community. “Through GERMAS with regular sports such as gymnastics, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, we want to instill awareness that maintaining health is a shared responsibility,” she said. With a healthy body, it is hoped that lecturers, education staff, and students will be more enthusiastic in working, studying, and providing the best contribution to the progress of FMIPA UNEJ. A Delegation of Mathematics Students from the FMIPA, University of Jember, Participated in the 2026 SATRIA DATA Competition.

Mathematics students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ), participated in the 2026 Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (Satria Data) National Statistics Competition (NSC) at the Mathematics Laboratory 1, Department of Mathematics, FMIPA, University of Jember (18/7). Nine students participated in the NSC, and they had to solve problems on probability theory, statistical theory/mathematical statistics, and categorical data analysis. This year’s competition implemented the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) and the Hybrid Proctoring system to ensure the integrity and security of the exam. Previously, there was a preparation period and a CBT trial period held from July 10-17, 2026. During the competition, they were accompanied by lecturers from the Mathematics Department, Firda Fadri, S.Si., M.Si., and Nadia Kholifia, S.Si. M.Si.

Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. said that the annual Satria Data agenda will always be supported and there will be mentoring from competent lecturers. “We will support Satria Data from mentoring to supporting facilities, so that our students excel at the national level,” he said. Together with 62 students from the University of Jember delegation, mathematics students also participated in Satria Data 2026 in other fields, namely the Statistics Essay Competition (SEC), Statistics Infographic Competition (SIC), and Big Data Competition (BDC). Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period I, Academic Year 2026/2027

FMIPA UNEJ held the 120th Undergraduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period I, Academic Year 2026/2027 (17/7). Held at the Auditorium of the Physics Department, FMIPA, University of Jember. In the graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., conveyed congratulations and success for passing and graduating to the FMIPA judiciary. The Dean invited the judiciary to prepare themselves to face challenges after graduation by learning to convert lecture results into skills. “Become problem solvers in the form of skills, especially transferable skills, so you can enter all lines of work,” he began. After graduation, alumni are also expected to no longer depend on their parents.

Prof. Dafik said that FMIPA UNEJ alumni have the advantage of being able to enter all lines of work. “The broad scope of MIPA science is an asset for alumni, such as in the current era, they can enter programs launched by the Indonesian government,” he continued. Prof. Dafik advised the judiciary to continue upgrading their skills to seize golden opportunities in today’s digital era which requires more skills and always follow technological advances. The Dean of FMIPA led an open meeting of the Faculty of MIPA senate accompanied by the Vice Deans I and II of FMIPA.
