The Senate of FMIPA UNEJ held the yudisium for the 87th Postgraduate and 123rd Undergraduate cohorts Period IV, Academic Year 2026/2027 on September 23. The event took place at the Physics Department Auditorium. In his address, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their studies. “Congratulations to the graduates on overcoming the challenges faced during your years of study; beyond that, FMIPA alumni possess the flexibility to seek employment or even create their own job opportunities,” he stated. Artificial intelligence is now available to support these endeavors in the current era.

Prof. Dafik stated that becoming a job creator is a viable option while waiting to secure employment, as it enhances the skills of graduating students. “Given the versatility of FMIPA alumni who can enter any field combined with AI capabilities, graduates can create jobs rather than merely seeking vacancies, in addition to the option of pursuing further studies,” he added. Advanced study programs are available across all FMIPA disciplines, and graduates can pursue these not only within FMIPA but also at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). The Dean of FMIPA presided over the open meeting of the FMIPA Faculty Senate, accompanied by Vice Deans I, II, and III. The Senate of the FMIPA UNEJ held the yudisium for the 86th Postgraduate and 122nd Undergraduate cohorts of the 2026/2027 Academic Year (Period III) on September 17. The event took place at the Physics Department Auditorium. This particular ceremony was distinguished by the presence of Prof. Dr. Sunder Ramasamy and Dr. Himani Binjola from India. The Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., delivered his address in English. He emphasized the importance of lifelong learning to the graduates, stating, “Congratulations to the graduates; I urge you to always embrace lifelong learning after completing your studies at FMIPA, as it will serve you well whether you enter the workforce or pursue further studies.”.

Prof. Dafik highlighted the role of technology specifically artificial intelligence (AI) in assisting students as they seek employment or pursue further studies. “Given that FMIPA alumni possess the versatility to enter diverse fields, the integration of AI means they can not only look for jobs but also create employment opportunities, in addition to the option of continuing their education,” he added. The importance of English as a global language for those wishing to study abroad was also emphasized. Ethics and Skills Lead Niam, an FMIPA Chemistry Alumni, to Become a Quality Manager at Puslit KoKa Jember

“UNEJ FMIPA alumni have good logic that other graduates don’t necessarily have, because the emphasis in a job is logical thinking,” began Muhammad Bahrul Niam, Chemistry Department Alumni, at the FMIPA Alumni Sharing event (8/9). Niam, as he is familiarly called, tells of his struggles while studying at FMIPA, starting his career, and now holding a position at Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Indonesia. “I was one of the last residents while studying, but my determination to get a job was so high that I moved to Surabaya,” he said.

Niam continued that carrying out work requires a little “pencitraan“, of course supported by qualified abilities in the field of work pursued. “The image here is to show that we are also capable, that we can, of course, with the support of the skills we have, and I have applied that in Surabaya until now,” he said. The FMIPA UNEJ Alumni Sharing was attended by 30 prospective graduates and female graduates who will take part in period 2 undergraduate and postgraduate graduations at the University of Jember for the 2023–2024 academic year. Present at the event were the leadership of Dean of FMIPA, the leadership of study programs within the FMIPA environment, and ORMAWA FMIPA functionaries at Jember University. Continue reading →
