FMIPA UNEJ in collaboration with FPA Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia

Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held talks to establish cooperation with The Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology (FPA), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia (7/4). Initial communication with online meetings. FMIPA is led directly by Dean of UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied by Deputy Dean I for Academic Affairs Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. and Deputy Dean II for General Affairs and Finance Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. Meanwhile, FPA UiTM presents the Dean, Prof. Dr. Azhan Hashim, Dr Fazleen Abdul Fatah as Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Program Coordinator Dr Zaiton Sapak. On this occasion, discussions began with the student exchange program which included class meetings, internships, research, and lecturer assistance. Continued academic program between the two faculties. It was also discussed that a working visit could take the form of an international seminar or a competition. Both parties are also ready to explore the existence of a special project. FPA UiTM also mentioned Project-SULAM which could make it possible to establish a partnership through Corporate Social Responsibility. In the pandemic era and also maintaining relationships even though they are separated by distance, it is necessary to hold regular online activities, namely webinars, conferences, workshops or also guest lectures which are very useful for lecturers and students of both faculties. Mathematics Department of FMIPA UNEJ now has a Statistician Clinic

Statistician Clinic is result of a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement between Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) of Kabupaten Jember with Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ last January. The existence of Statistician Clinic is expected to be able to improve Statistical Literacy to the wider community and assist students in consulting and searching for data for research and research purposes. The Statistician Clinic is open every Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 15.00 which is temporarily located in the courtyard of the Mathematics Department building, FMIPA UNEJ. In the future, this clinic will occupy one of the spaces around the Jember University Library in order to reach more visitors. Some of the services that can be obtained include publication of digital data, statistical consultation, and recommendations for statistical activities. “Specifically, statistical data consultation services and recommendations for statistical activities are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” explained Muhammad Ali Musa, an intern student at the Statistician Clinic. Together with Muhammad Bayu Nusantara, both of them were given the mandate to manage Statistics Clinic as work experience. During the internship, the two students will be guided directly by a mentor from BPS Kabupaten 2 times a week. Every visitor who wants to get services at the Statistician Clinic is free of charge. “Statistician Clinic also aims to improve knowledge, skills, and competencies of FMIPA UNEJ students in Internship activities/student work practices, especially MBKM,” said Dr. Kiswara Agung Santoso as Head of Mathematics Department, FMIPA UNEJ. Three Biology Students Complete MBKM Internship Program at Purwodadi Botanic Garden

Agustin Dinda Prameswary, Jocelin Andiana, and M. Afriyanto students of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember angkatan 2019 completed the Independent Learning Partnership Internship Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) for 6 months at the Plant Conservation Center of Purwodadi Botanic Garden. “They have participated in an internship program which is based on a cooperation agreement, all of which have been prepared by the study program and faculty,” explained Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. It was further stated that the MBKM Partnership Internship Program is equivalent to taking 20 credits. To note, the Purwodadi Botanical Gardens as one of the work units of Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI) previously offered the MBKM program in the form of a cooperation agreement. FMIPA UNEJ, which is concerned with the MBKM program, responded and stated it in a cooperation agreement with KR Purwodadi. The programs offered are Research Assistant and Biological Collection Curator. Interns will get mentoring facilities, co-working space, access to research facilities and plant collections and of course internet access. To note, FMIPA UNEJ in implementing MBKM has carried out several collaborations with agencies, state universities, and the private sector. Among them Pusat Sains dan Teknologi Akselerator (PSTA) BATAN, Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Indonesia, RSD dr. Soebandi Jember, Bank Syariah Indonesia Jember Area, Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) as well as several state universities such as UNAIR, UNNES, UB, UIN Malang, UIN Jakarta, UNJA, and Udaya University Bali. “We facilitate our students to choose and take several BKP for MBKM program through a cooperation agreement,” said Siswoyo.
