FMIPA Jember University with the Sentool Panti Jember Plantation extended the cooperation agreement (31/1). Located at Wisma Brawijaya, the FMIPA team was directly led by the Dean of FMIPA Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. received by the Head of Plantation Sentool Sugiyana and his staff. “In the last year many activities have been produced after the signing of the PKS, MBKM activities, community service by FMIPA lecturers as well,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ.
Furthermore, the Dean said that through the MBKM Independent Study/Project BKP, UNEJ FMIPA students gained a lot of useful knowledge in sentool plantations. In community service driven by Dr. Teguh Hidayat Wiyono from Biology also succeeded in sharing his knowledge with the community around the plantation. “The longan tree has started to thrive thanks to Mr. Teguh’s direction, now fish seeds are the next program by looking at a good pond and irrigation here,” he said. To note, the sentool plantation is located in Suci Village, Panti District, Jember Regency.
The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out by the Dean of FMIPA with Sugiyana as the Head of the Sentool Plantation accompanied by representatives of the directors Nuril. “We on the sentool side welcome the extension of this collaboration, because the impact of the benefits is immediately visible to us and the surrounding community as well as to FMIPA UNEJ,” said Sugiyana. The agreement will last for the next 2 years while still covering research, education and community service.
After the main event, the UNEJ FMIPA team saw firsthand the longan plants which were starting to thrive in the sentool plantation area. Dr. Teguh as the program activist conveyed the development of longan plants to the Dean accompanied by the sentool plantation manager. In this agenda, fish seeds were distributed to the community to be bred in ponds and waterways around the plantation.
