Dr. Hidayat Teguh Wiyono, M.Pd. who is fondly called Mr. Teguh as of June 1, 2023 tomorrow will enter his retirement period. Pak Teguh’s work as a teacher and researcher in the Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ is not in doubt. Until the end of his service, he was still actively discussing with the leaders of the Sentool plantation partners of MBKM FMIPA, especially longan development (30/5). “Today is the end of his servant. Pak Teguh remains enthusiastic about the discussion and inquires about the development of longan in the Sentool plantation,” said Vice Dean I FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. It can be seen that longan trees are increasingly thriving around the plantation area, which originated from seeds researched by Mr. Teguh.

Indeed, apart from being a lecturer, Mr. Teguh is active in researching longans, so he is usually called Longan Mantri. He managed to develop a super longan. which started with concern about the local Jember longan plant which at first only grew without fruit. With a special ingredient from Mr. Teguh and then packaged in the form of fertilizer, it was able to produce thicker, sweeter longan fruit and smaller seeds.

Mr. Teguh is a graduate of the Malang Teaching and Education Institute for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. While the Doctoral degree was obtained from Airlangga University in Surabaya. Mr. Teguh is a senior lecturer in the Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ who has produced a lot of research, dedication and has also guided students a lot, especially in field activities. “Mr. Teguh, with his antique and dashing Land Rover, is always ready to go into the fields, be it forests, beaches or mountains,” recalled his Biology colleague.

According to Surat Keputusan Menteri Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Number 68915/MPK.A/KP.12.00/2021 about Pemberian Kenaikan Pangkat Pengabdian, Pemberhentian dan Pemberian Pensiun Pegawai Negeri Sipil Yang Mencapai Batas Usia, Penata Tk. I/IIId. He has devoted nearly 35 years to the University of Jember and the country.

FMIPA Jember University expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Teguh who has devoted his energy, thoughts and ideas to advance the nation through teaching education for biology students. “After some time ago Ms. Mahriani, now biology has to let go of Mr. Teguh’s retirement, the leadership and the entire FMIPA community thank you for Mr. Teguh’s dedication while serving,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ. Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D.

The Department of Biology, FMIPA, especially the Zoology Laboratory, has recently released two senior lecturers from retirement. At the end of 2022, Dra. Mahriani, M.Sc. and mid-2023 Dr. Hidayat Teguh Wiyono, M.Pd. “We thank Mr. Teguh, and hopefully Biology will get great figures like him in the future,” concluded Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. Vice Dean II of FMIPA UNEJ and also a colleague at the FMIPA Zoology Laboratory.
