Visitation of ASIIN International Accreditation for Undergraduate Biology Study Program FMIPA UNEJ

Department of Biologi, FMIPA and Master degree of Biotechnology University of Jember carried out ASIIN’s international accreditation visitation (15-16/12). The Akcreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik or ASIIN team held a meeting with the heads of institutions at UNEJ on the first day. The ASIIN Peer Group consists of Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Meinhardt, University of Muenster, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nellen, Kassel University, Yayang Vionita, PT Cinquer Agro Nusantara, Fatima Qonita Nazihah, State University of Surabaya.

They are with ASIIN Office Dr. Iring Wasser heard presentations on university development, institution profiles, teaching studies. Jember University leadership also gave presentations on collaboration with stakeholders, perspective on resource development, institutional facilities, communication and coordination, study organization and management, teaching to students and quality management at the university level. Department of Biology FMIPA holds FGD, prepares ASIIN SAR documents

Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held a FGD for the Preparation of the ASIIN Self Assessment Report (SAR) Document for application of international accreditation for the Biology Undergraduate Study Program (31/3-2/4) at Kalibaru Cottages Banyuwangi which was attended by 16 people . The activity was to prepare evidence and ASIIN SAR documents consisting of 6 criteria, Criteria 1: The Degree Program: Concept, Content & Implementation, Criteria 2: ASIIN The Degree Program: Structures, Methods and Implementation, Criteria 3: ASIIN Exams: System, Concept and Organization, Criteria 4: ASIIN Resources Criteria 5: ASIIN Transparency and Documentation, Criteria 6: ASIIN Quality Management: Quality Assessment and Development. To note, the Department of Biology, FMIPA UNEJ has been preparing to apply for ASIIN international accreditation some time ago. PS Biology wants to follow his colleagues, namely the Agribusiness Study Program and Agrotechnology Study Program at Faculty of Agriculture, as well as the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Jember, which has previously won the Akcreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatics, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik or ASIIN. Initial Coordination Meeting for 2022 FMIPA UNEJ: Improving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in Achieving IKU

“It is necessary to formulate so that the world of work can quickly absorb alumni, one of which is by making the institution known, such as participating in international accreditation. Besides that, it is also necessary to optimize the role of alumni, so that more alumni get decent jobs,” said Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember in the introduction to the Leadership Coordination Meeting within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences with the theme of Improving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in Achieving IKU and technical services in the academic, general and financial fields as well as student affairs (10/1). In the coordination meeting held in the general lecture room of the Chemistry Department, the Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences hopes to seek international accreditation so that FMIPA can exist more. “Regarding the curriculum resume that has been submitted, we hope that the Department of Biology and Mathematics will continue with assistance from LP3M and involve the roles of UPM and GPM,” he hoped. Regarding Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU), in terms of writing scientific articles, it is possible to achieve if they are designed properly, the number of research results will be more and more distributed by the community. In front of the Heads of undergraduate and master study programs participating in the coordination meeting, the Dean also said that GPA of FMIPA students was still below university’s GPA of 3.30. This requires an increase in learning instruments so that the achievement of the minimum score can increase without having to reduce quality. At the end of his speech, the Dean of FMIPA again touched on international accreditation to attract prospective master’s students. “It is necessary to strive for international accreditation so that it becomes the target of students, one of which is through the LPDP scholarship, so that the interest will be even higher,” he concluded.
