20 UNEJ Students Participate in the 2026 ONMIPA-PT Regional Selection at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember

The regional selection for the 2026 National Olympiad of Mathematics and Natural Sciences for Higher Education (ONMIPA-PT) was held at the Mathematics Laboratory 1, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ) (May 5-6). “Twenty UNEJ students, consisting of 13 from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, 6 from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, and 1 from the Faculty of Medicine, participated in the OMIPA-PT regional selection to secure a ticket to the national level at UNAIR Surabaya in June 2026,” said Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. The Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNEJ, who was in attendance, provided direct support. The UNEJ delegation participated in the online selection according to the fields of competition: mathematics and chemistry in the morning session, and biology and physics in the afternoon session

Nindha Ayu Berlianti, S.Pd., S.Si., M.Si., one of the mentors for the ONMIPA-PT UNEJ delegation, stated that the participants participating in the regional selection were selected from the university-level selection process several weeks ago. “This year, we conducted the university-level selection process first, then provided coaching to the 20 students who passed to participate in the regional selection process,” she explained. The successful participants then received intensive coaching at the C-RiSSH UNEJ Building. “Before the regional selection process, system testing and tryouts were conducted. This year’s competition is different from previous years, as we use the SEB application, access keys for both mathematics and physics, and we have our own proctors,” she continued. Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNEJ Holds the 6th ICOLIB 2025 and Partners with UPA PL2T UNEJ to Hold Plant Biotechnology Symposium

The Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held the 6th International Conference on Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ICOLIB) 2025 in a hybrid (17-18/10). ICOLIB is an international seminar scheduled every two years. The first ICOLIB was held in 2015, and 2025 is the sixth event. Taking the theme “Synergizing Biodiversity, Biotechnology, and Global Resilience for a Sustainable Future“. Held in the Natural Science and Food Technology (NSF) Hall, 4th floor of the IsDB Building, ICOLIB 2025 is also aligned with the Plant Biotechnology Symposium agenda by the UPA Waste Management and Integrated Laboratory of UNEJ.

The 6th ICOLIB 2025 was officially opened by Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector of the University of Jember for Academic Affairs by online. The Vice Rector I of UNEJ stated that the theme raised at ICOLIB 2025 is very relevant to the vision of the University of Jember, especially in supporting sustainable industrial agriculture. “The University of Jember is committed to becoming a living laboratory in the fields of agricultural science, tropical biology, and bio-based materials, and upholds the combination of global research and local wisdom,” he said. ICOLIB is not only a presentation event, but a space for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and the formation of international partnerships across disciplines. UNEJ Students Participate in the ONMIPA-PT 2025 Regional Selection at the FMIPA, University of Jember

The regional selection for the Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Perguruan Tinggi  (ONMIPA-PT) 2025 was held in the Mathematics Laboratory 1 and 2 of the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ), on September 21-22. “University of Jember students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, and Faculty of Medicine are competing to secure a spot at the national level at Padjadjaran University, Bandung, in November 2025,” said Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si., PIC of ONMIPA-PT UNEJ and Vice Dean III of the Faculty. The UNEJ delegation participated in the online selection process, which covers mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry. “To ensure readiness, a system test and online tryout were conducted on September 16, 2025,” he continued.

According to Abduh Riski, S.Si., M.Si., the mentor of the UNEJ ONMIPA-PT delegation, the participants who took part in the regional selection were the result of coaching and university selection held from July 7-11, 2025. “Participants in this regional selection are the result of five days of coaching and a university-level selection on the final day,” he explained. All participants received 14 face-to-face meetings with competent supervising lecturers. Riski said that after the coaching, the top five students were selected to participate in the regional ONMIPA-PT selection. Support is provided by the UNEJ student affairs department by procuring equipment, as well as a Mathematics Laboratory with computers and a reliable internet network for selection activities.. Biology Undergraduate Study Program FMIPA UNEJ Achieves UNGGUL Accreditation from LAMSAMA

The academic community of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember received two good news in early July 2025. Among them, the Biology Undergraduate Study Program FMIPA UNEJ achieved UNGGUL accreditation. It is stated in the decision of the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) Number 205/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/VII/2025 dated July 7, 2025. The accreditation is valid from the date of determination until July 6, 2030. At the same time, the Mathematics Undergraduate Study Program also received UNGGUL. The achievement of UNGGUL accreditation complements the ASIIN international accreditation that was previously achieved. “Congratulations to the biology undergraduate study program for achieving the UNGGUL accreditation predicate from LAMSAMA, and completing the previous achievement which has been internationally accredited by ASIIN,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D.

In a separate place, Dr. Retno Wimbaningrum, M.Si. Head of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program said that the UNGGUL achievement was the result of hard work through its accreditation team preparing forms, supported by lecturers, students, alumni and stakeholders. “After achieving ASIIN accreditation, the biology undergraduate study program has now achieved UNGGUL from LAMSAMA, completing the biology master’s study program which is also accredited UNGGUL, congratulations to the team and the FMIPA Biology community,” said Retno. The leadership of the University of Jember also played a role and supported the LAMSAMA accreditation process. During the field assessment, the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor I, Head of UPA ICT, Director of Postgraduate Studies and representatives of LPMPP were present. Field Assessment of LAMSAMA Accreditation for Undergraduate Biology Study Program, FMIPA UNEJ

The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team held a field assessment of the accreditation of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. The Rector of the University of Jember Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng. and the Vice Rector of UNEJ for Academic Affairs Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D. with the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied the assessor team in the opening ceremony of the field assessment (22-23/5). The assessor team consisted of Dr. Sony Heru Sumarsono from Institut Teknologi Bandung and Prof. Dr. Okid Parama Astirin, M.S. from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta.

Iwan Taruna in his opening remarks hoped that the Biology Undergraduate Study Program would be able to achieve UNGGUL which would improve UNEJ’s IKU. “With good cooperation from the taskforce team, hopefully the biology study program can achieve the UNGGUL predicate to improve UNEJ’s IKU,” he said. The Chancellor said that the field visitation was a process of verifying the accreditation files that the study program had submitted. “The visitation is a process of verifying accreditation documents, as a place to convince the assessors by the taskforce, hopefully it will run smoothly from the beginning until tomorrow,” he continued. The Rector officially opened the field assessment of the Biology Undergraduate Study Program. Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember Adds Two New Professors, Now Has 10 Professors

The chairperson of the Jember University Senate, Drs. Andang Subaharianto, M.Hum., inaugurated six professors in the Jember University Senate Meeting at the Jember University Auditorium (17/4). Two of them are professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ, namely Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D.,, as professor in the field of ecological valuation in the Department of Biology, FMIPA,, and Prof. Dr. Sutisna, S.Pd., M.Si., professor., professorld of photocatalytic material physics in the Department of Physics, FMIPA UNEJ. The senate meeting for the inauguration of professors was attended by UNEJ leaders, the chancellor and vice chancellors, senate members,, and stakeholders of the University of Jember. In his remarks, the Chancellor of UNEJ, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., said that UNEJ now has 93 professors. Since the period 2020-2025,, there are 5 top faculties that have new professors, namely FKIP, FEB, FP, FMIPA, and FTP.

“UNEJ continues to accelerate the increase in the number of professors, but not only quantity but alsoalso quality is maintained to support the performance of higher education,” he said. The chancellor of UNEJ hopes that the newly inaugurated professors can become enlighteners of science and morality, not only leaders in their fields of science but also rdians of academic integrity. “Professors can continue to be humble and continue to learn, continue to conduct research to produce work because the title of professor is recognition, not the end,” he hoped.
