The Department of Chemistry at the FMIPA, UNEJ, hosted a discussion session titled “EDUARA: Building an AI-Powered, Adaptive, and Evidence-Informed Learning Ecosystem,” featuring Assoc. Prof. Zaher M.A. Judeh from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, as the speaker (September 30). The event served as a platform for sharing insights on the transformation of higher education in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and was attended by lecturers from FMIPA and FKIP, as well as high school teachers from Jember. The session was opened by the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Anak Agung Istri Ratnadewi, S.Si., M.Si. In his presentation, Assoc. Prof. Zaher began the discussion by addressing “Forecast 2030: Lecturer’s Role in the Age of AI.”

“The role of the lecturer is shifting from a mere deliverer of material to a learning facilitator capable of leveraging AI to create a more personalized, adaptive, and evidence-informed learning experience,” he explained. Furthermore, participants were introduced to the EDUARA concept, covering everything from competency mapping and difficulty levels to the setting of competitive learning outcome targets. “EDUARA will support lecturers in developing course materials, automatically generating questions and assessments, and utilizing AI for faster, more objective grading processes,” he added.
