The Senate of FMIPA UNEJ held the 88th & 89th Postgraduate and 124th & 125th Undergraduate Yudisium for the 2026/2027 academic year (Periods V and VI) on October 27. The event took place in the Auditorium of the Department of Physics at FMIPA, University of Jember. In his address, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on the successful completion of their studies. “Congratulations to all the graduates. After tomorrow’s commencement ceremony, take a brief rest, then continue your journey in the real world whether by seeking employment or pursuing further studies,” he said. He also noted that, in today’s era, artificial intelligence is available to support these endeavors.
Prof. Dafik stated that working or pursuing further studies abroad has now been made easier by the government through the introduction of special visas. “There are many more opportunities now for those wishing to work or study overseas, including special visa options; most importantly, one must continuously hone their foreign language skills, especially in English,” he added. The Dean expressed his hope that graduates would cultivate independence following their commencement, ensuring they no longer remain a financial burden on their parents. The Dean of FMIPA presided over an open meeting of the Faculty Senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans I, II, and III. The meeting was attended by all members of the FMIPA Senate, as well as invited academic and administrative staff from the FMIPA UNEJ.
Next, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ issued a decree regarding the 88th & 89th postgraduate and 124th & 125th undergraduate graduation for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences covering periods V and VI of the 2026/2027 academic year which was read by the Vice Dean I of FMIPA, Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D. This was followed by congratulatory remarks from the Deans, Vice Deans, and Heads of Study Programs within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNEJ to all the graduates.

The motivational address for the graduates was delivered by Ika Wahyuni, S.Si., M.Si., an alumna of the Bachelor’s program in Biology (2012) and the Master’s program in Biology (2017). Ika shared that she had long held a firm conviction to work abroad. “From the very beginning, I dreamed of working overseas a principle I remained committed to even after completing my undergraduate studies in Biology at the FMIPA,” she said. Currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Bioscience Engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium, Ika encouraged the graduates not to give up easily when faced with challenges; instead, she urged them to hold fast to their personal goals and strive to achieve them.
Ika stated that one way to support the pursuit of one’s goals is by expanding one’s network—whether for finding job openings or for further studies. “I have become more confident about studying and working abroad by continuously building connections, such as with a professor from Belgium,” she added. In her closing words of motivation, Ika advised her peers to hold onto the knowledge they gained at the FMIPA and to pursue their own aspirations, independent of external influences. Following the yudisium, a group photo session was held for the various study programs within FMIPA UNEJ. The graduates will participate in the commencement ceremony this coming weekend, which will be conducted in stages based on specific cohorts at the University of Jember Auditorium.
