Field Assessment of LAMSAMA Accreditation for the Chemistry Master’s Program, FMIPA, University of Jember

The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team conducted a field assessment of the accreditation of the Chemistry Master’s Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. The Rector of the University of Jember, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., along with the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied the assessor team at the opening ceremony of the field assessment (January 28-29). The assessor team consisted of Prof. Dr. Eddy Heraldy, M.Sc. from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, and Prof. Tri Joko Raharjo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. from Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta.

In his opening remarks, Iwan Taruna expressed his hope that the Chemistry Master’s Program would achieve good accreditation results, despite its recent launch. “The Chemistry Master’s Program is relatively new and has not yet produced any graduates. I hope the assessors can give the best possible score based on the data compiled by the task force,” he said. The Rector explained that the field visit is a process for verifying accreditation documents, and in this era, it is faster because data can be retrieved from anywhere. “The visit is a process for verifying accreditation documents, and it serves as a platform for the task force to reassure the assessors. I hope it runs smoothly from start to finish,” he continued. The Rector officially opened the field assessment for the Chemistry Master’s Program. Present at the visit were leaders and representatives from supporting institutions at the University of Jember, such as the Institute for the Development of Information Technology (LPMPP), the Institute for the Development of Student Affairs (LP2M), the ICT Unit (UPA ICT), the Postgraduate Unit (UPA Library), and the Language Unit (UPA Bahasa). Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Graduation Ceremony, Jember University, Period 7, Academic Year 2025/2026

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University held its 116th Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University, Period 7, Academic Year 2025/2026 (January 21). The ceremony took place in the Physics Department Auditorium, FMIPA, Jember University. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies at FMIPA. He encouraged the graduates to prepare themselves to be competitive when entering society. “Today’s workforce requires workers with KKNI (National Qualifications Framework) level 6, so I hope that with the knowledge gained from studying at FMIPA, I can remain competitive,” he began. At this level, individuals must master various more complex competencies. They must possess strong managerial skills, be able to make strategic decisions, and be capable of development and innovation.

Prof. Dafik stated that the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, with its motto of “creativity,” will continue to produce energetic, multi-tasking, and multi-talented graduates. This motto, supported by creativity, enables graduates to be independent. “Don’t rely solely on a science degree, but develop your creativity so you can work in various fields, which are currently rapidly evolving,” he continued. Prof. Dafik advised the graduates to balance prayer and effort to achieve success. The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences led an open meeting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans II and III of the Faculty. All members of the FMIPA senate, as well as invited guests representing the teaching and administrative staff of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, were present. Prof. Dafik, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Leads Morning Roll Call at the Beginning of 2026

Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., led the first morning roll call at the beginning of 2026 in the courtyard of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ) Dean’s Office (January 12th). The roll call officer was from the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. In his address, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences encouraged students to remain enthusiastic in carrying out their routine duties serving students in teaching and learning activities at the beginning of 2026. Earlier this year, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was again strengthened by a professor from the Mathematics Department who completed his term. “My teacher, Prof. Kusno from the Mathematics Department, has returned to his active role as a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences after serving for more than 10 years as Rector of the Mandalika University of Education (UNDIKMA) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB),” he said.

He stated that Prof. Kusno has been active and will assist the Faculty in achieving its future goals. For lecturers, there’s good news from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. “Ministerial Regulation No. 52 of 2025 concerning the profession, career, and income of lecturers is good news for lecturers, improving their welfare and clarifying their career paths, especially for promotion,” he said. Prof. Dafik hopes that lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) will immediately prepare for the promotion process, especially for professors. We are encouraging the Faculty to have a large number of professors. The Faculty has identified lecturers who are senior lecturers to assist in the application process for professorship, in line with the direction of the Rector of UNEJ. Continue reading
