FMIPA UNEJ held the 84th Postgraduate (S2) and 118th Undergraduate (B2) Graduation Ceremony for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Jember University, Term IX, 2025/2026 Academic Year (April 16). The ceremony took place in the Physics Department Auditorium, FMIPA, Jember University. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies at FMIPA. He encouraged the graduates to prepare themselves to become creative graduates. “Use the knowledge gained during lectures to develop creative skills,” he began. FMIPA alumni should no longer simply wait for job openings; they should create their own opportunities, armed with useful knowledge and skills, so they can adapt to the wider community after graduation.
Prof. Dafik stated that FMIPA alumni have been equipped with fundamental knowledge to adapt to the needs of the times. “The current era is filled with AI, so FMIPA alumni who have mastered the basics are expected to be prepared with the skills they have to adapt, not just waiting for job openings, but creating their own opportunities,” he continued. Prof. Dafik advised the graduates to balance dhikr (remembrance of God) and meditation (contemplation) to prepare for life after graduating from FMIPA UNEJ. The Dean of FMIPA led an open meeting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans II and III of FMIPA. All FMIPA senate members were present, as well as invited guests representing the teaching and administrative staff of FMIPA UNEJ.
Following this, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ read the decree concerning the 84th Postgraduate (S2) and 118th Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, for the 8th Period of the 2025/2026 Academic Year by Vice Dean I of FMIPA, Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., followed by congratulations from the Deans, Vice Deans, and Heads of Department to all graduates. At this graduation period, the highest GPA for the Master’s Program was achieved by Evita Figur Anggraheni, S.Si., from the Mathematics Master’s Program, with a perfect GPA of 3.89 after a study period of 1 year, 11 months, and 3 days. The motivational speech at the graduation ceremony was delivered by Ahmad Ridlo Hanifudin Tahier, S.Si., M.Si. A 2017 Physics Undergraduate Alumni, Ridlo, as he is familiarly known, said that FMIPA UNEJ alumni are renowned for their strong work ethic. “This work ethic is reflected in the communication network of FMIPA alumni, who support and strengthen each other, and never give up when seeking job opportunities,” he said. The lecturer in the Applied Undergraduate Program (D-4) in Automation Engineering Technology at Diponegoro University conveyed the opportunities for FMIPA alumni with a basic knowledge of the subject to enter a variety of career fields. Like roof tiles, FMIPA alumni are truly strong and durable when installed and can withstand all weather conditions.
Ridlo also encouraged the graduating class to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, who possess a strong work ethic, thanks to the knowledge they possess in FMIPA. Sangiran, an archaeological site, is an example. FMIPA alumni can also work there as conservators. “Finally, let’s immediately prepare to look forward, because in my opinion, luck is a combination of readiness and opportunity, because if we are ready there must also be opportunities, conversely, if there are opportunities, we must also be ready,” he concluded. The graduation ceremony closed with a prayer with the hope that all graduates will be successful in the future. The graduates will attend the graduation ceremony this coming weekend at the Jember University Auditorium Building.
