Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNEJ Holds the 6th ICOLIB 2025 and Partners with UPA PL2T UNEJ to Hold Plant Biotechnology Symposium

The Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held the 6th International Conference on Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ICOLIB) 2025 in a hybrid (17-18/10). ICOLIB is an international seminar scheduled every two years. The first ICOLIB was held in 2015, and 2025 is the sixth event. Taking the theme “Synergizing Biodiversity, Biotechnology, and Global Resilience for a Sustainable Future“. Held in the Natural Science and Food Technology (NSF) Hall, 4th floor of the IsDB Building, ICOLIB 2025 is also aligned with the Plant Biotechnology Symposium agenda by the UPA Waste Management and Integrated Laboratory of UNEJ.

The 6th ICOLIB 2025 was officially opened by Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector of the University of Jember for Academic Affairs by online. The Vice Rector I of UNEJ stated that the theme raised at ICOLIB 2025 is very relevant to the vision of the University of Jember, especially in supporting sustainable industrial agriculture. “The University of Jember is committed to becoming a living laboratory in the fields of agricultural science, tropical biology, and bio-based materials, and upholds the combination of global research and local wisdom,” he said. ICOLIB is not only a presentation event, but a space for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and the formation of international partnerships across disciplines. The Dean of the FMIPA of UNEJ Opens the Series of 27th Anniversary of FMIPA, Welcomes the 61st Anniversary of UNEJ

Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, officially opened the 27th anniversary celebrations of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the FMIPA parking lot (3/10). The celebrations began with the SPORA CUP 2025 SPECTRA. In his opening remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of a healthy lifestyle through exercise. “Maintaining good health to support your work or study routines is crucial, and regular exercise is key,” he emphasized. A healthy mind fosters creativity, fosters innovation, and fosters achievement. This aligns with the FMIPA UNEJ slogan: “Create, Innovate, and Achieve.” He stated that the FMIPA anniversary celebrations also serve to welcome the 61st anniversary of the University of Jember in 2025.

“We will also continue the agenda of UNEJ’s 61st anniversary. Let’s celebrate it with various competitions in the 2025 SPORA CUP,” said Prof. Dafik. Dafik. At the end of his remarks, the Dean urged the competition to maintain sportsmanship and uphold unity and togetherness. Accompanied by the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si., the Dean cut the ribbon to officially open the series of events commemorating the 27th anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (UNEJ). The SPORA CUP will feature basketball, badminton, futsal, volleyball, singing, and e-sports. Student delegations from each department will participate, and the participation of FMIPA staff and lecturers in the volleyball and futsal competitions will also be enlivened. Through the IC2MS 2025 Forum, The Department of Chemistry FMIPA Affirms Its Capacity on the International Stage

The academic reputation of the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ), was once again proven through its active participation in the 7th International Conference on Chemistry and Material Sciences (7th IC2MS) 2025. IC2MS was held at the Institute of Business Excellence (IBE) Building, UiTM Shah Alam Campus, Selangor, Malaysia, on August 19-20, 2025. Carrying the theme “Bridging Disciplines, Advancing Innovation for a Sustainable Future” IC2MS is a strategic collaboration between the University of Jember, Brawijaya University, Malang State University (Indonesia), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia). IC2MS is expected to bridge interdisciplinary learning and pave the way for new innovations oriented towards sustainable development.

This year, the University of Jember delegated ten Chemistry lecturers, not only as participants but also actively contributing as keynote speakers, invited speakers, oral presenters, and poster presenters. The event began with remarks from the Chairperson of IC2MS 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fariz Mohamad Taib. In his remarks, he stated that this conference serves not only as a scientific forum but also as a platform for strengthening international friendship and cooperation. “We also hope that the consortium’s membership can be expanded in the future,” he said, highlighting the presence of several delegates from Thailand as an opportunity to add new IC2MS members. Chemistry FMIPA UNEJ Holds 6th International Conference on Chemistry and Material Science (IC2MS) 2024

The Chemistry Department of FMIPA UNEJ held the International Conference on Chemistry and Material Sciences (IC2MS) 2024 in collaboration with Brawijaya University, Malang State University, and Mara Technology University (25-26/9). The theme raised was “Sustainable Chemistry and Material Sciences for a Better Life.” Taking place at the Soetardjo Building, Jember University presented keynote speakers from abroad and within the country. Prof. Spas D Kolev from Australia, Prof. Ts Dr.-Ing. Oskar Hasdinor Hassan from Malaysia, Prof. Yun-Hi Kim from Korea, Dr. Verawat Champreda from Thailand, Prof. Brian Yuliarto from Taking place at and Prof. Bambang Kuswandi as the host of Jember University.

The 6th IC2MS 2024 also presents 10 invited speakers, namely Dr.Sc. Lukman Hakim from UB, Prof. Surjani Wonorahardjo from UM, Assoc. Prof. ChM. Dr. Noraini Ahmad and Dr. Umi Marshida Abd. from Korea, Eko Setio Wibowo, Ph.D. from BRIN, Dr. Anton Prasetyo from UIN MMI Malang, and Prof. Anak Agung Istri Ratnadewi, representative of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA UNEJ. In addition to the seminar, the 6th IC2MS 2024 held a workshop with the theme “Exploring Chemical Space with DataWarrior: Unveiling the Universe of Molecular Possibilities.”.

In 2023, the Biology Department will hold the 5th ICOLIB and the Physics Department will hold the 4th SENAFIS

In 2023, two Departments at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, namely Biology and Physics, are holding another routine event every 2 years. The Biology Department will hold The 5th ICOLIB 2023 which will take the theme “Global Insights and Innovations of Life Sciences Research in the Post COVID-19 Era“. ICOLIB or International Conference on Life Sciences and Biotechnology is an international seminar that has been regularly held since 2015 by the Department of Biology. Presenting speakers from researchers to Nobel peace laureates. Each year also takes a different theme by paying attention to hot issues.

Next is SENAFIS, the National Seminar on Physics which is being held by the Department of Physics for the fourth time. In 2023 the theme is “Menjawab Tantangan Era Society 5.0 Pasca Pandemi Covid 19“. Continue reading →
