Biology Department, FMIPA, University of Jember Presents Biotechnology Expert Dr. M. Kamaraj from India

Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ presents Dr. M. Kamaraj, Associate Professor and HoD of Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Humanities Ramapuram Campus, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, India (9-11/10). A series of events for 3 days were officially opened by Dr. Retno Wimbaningrum, M.Si., as the Head of the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ. The first day began with a guest lecture agenda with the theme “Current biotechnology for environmental assessment and monitoring.” Moderated by Purwatiningsih, Ph.D., the lecture was attended by lecturers and biology students. “Biotechnology is changing the way we monitor and assess the environment using innovative, precise, and efficient tools,” began Dr. M. Kamaraj.

It is said that biotechnology is changing the way we monitor and assess the environment by offering innovative, precise, and efficient tools. “The application of this technology will improve sustainability efforts, encourage better resource management, and support environmental mitigation,” he continued. The guest lecture also provided an opportunity for discussion with participants. The next agenda item was a visit to the sub-labs in the Department of Biology such as ecology, zoology, botany, microbiology, and biotechnology. At the end of the first day’s agenda, Dr. M. Kamaraj was invited to visit the CDAST & IsDB building and met Prof. Dr. Bambang Sugiharto, M.AgrSc. Continue reading

Signing of Perjanjian Kinerja 2024 at FMIPA University of Jember

“The target for achieving the IKU for each study program is contained in the performance agreement at FMIPA, as well as the achievement of implementing the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi,” said Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., at the signing of the 2024 performance (29/2). Performance agreements are made to realize government performance that is effective, transparent, accountable, and results-oriented. The 2024 performance agreement signing ceremony was carried out by the Dean with the Head of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Study Programs as well as the Head of the Laboratory at the FMIPA University of Jember.

Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, accompanied by Vice Deans I, II, and III, signed a Perjanjian Kinerja in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the FMIPA UNEJ dean building. The signing of the integrity pact regarding the Zona Integritas-Wilayah Bebas Korupsi (ZI-WBK) was also conveyed during the signing of the Perjanjian Kinerja with the Rector of the University of Jember in 2024 some time ago. “By signing an integrity pact for all work unit leaders, University of Jember has launched the development of ZI-WBK to uphold good governance, combined with the signing of a Perjanjian Kinerja to produce maximum service quality,” he said.

Improve Practicum Services, Mathematics Laboratory, and Biology Laboratory FMIPA Holds Short Training

To improve services to students, especially practicums, Mathematics Laboratory and Biology Laboratory of FMIPA UNEJ held short training. The Mathematics Laboratory has theme Peningkatan Kompetensi Asisten Praktikum Kalkulus (25/8). “We equate the perception of delivering practicum material because we serve students in all majors, from introductions, preparation to output from practicum,” said Dr. Agustina Pradjaningsih, S.Si., M.Si. Head of the Mathematics Laboratory. Followed by 23 calculus practicum assistants, the material was delivered by Abduh Riski, S.Si., M.Si. discuss the achievements of each meeting during the practicum implementation.

Separately, the Biology Laboratory plans to develop staff for educational laboratory institutions with the aim of improving practicum services for compulsory subjects in supporting the learning outcomes of graduate students. “The training was held in the sub lab, all PLP are expected to be able to transfer knowledge and expertise so they are able to provide a variety of laboratory services,” said Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D. Head of the Biology Laboratory. The event took place August 7-11 in the microbiology sub-lab, followed by August 14 in the botany sub-lab and August 21-22 in the zoology sub-lab. Continue reading
