FThe Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University held the 114th Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for the 5th Period of the 2025/2026 Academic Year (11/18). The ceremony took place in the Physics Department Auditorium of the Faculty. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies at FMIPA. He also informed that in the next few months, UNEJ’s status will change from a BLU to a PTNBH. “If PTNBH becomes a legal entity (PTNBH), there will be greater opportunities for FMIPA to open new study programs, and this has been appreciated by the Rector, the closest being the data science study program,” he began. The opening of study programs will result in an increased number of students who will be mentored to participate in society, like the graduates at this morning’s graduation ceremony.
Prof. Dafik stated that strong alumni data is needed to track the progress of FMIPA graduates in society. “With this data, we are preparing an OBE curriculum that will broaden the reach of alumni and enable them to choose their desired career fields,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also expressed his hope that a bachelor’s degree is not the end, but rather a foundation for lifelong learning. “Continue learning, be consistent in your efforts, and ultimately you will achieve victory and success,” he concluded. The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences led an open meeting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans I, II, and III of the Faculty. All members of the FMIPA senate, as well as invited guests representing the teaching and administrative staff of FMIPA UNEJ, were present.
Following this, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ’s decree regarding the 114th Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony (S1) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, for the 2025/2026 Academic Year, was read by Vice Dean III of FMIPA, Prof. Dr. Edy Supriyanto, S.Si., M.Si. This was followed by congratulations from the Deans, Vice Deans, and Heads of Department to all graduates. At this graduation ceremony, the highest GPA for the Undergraduate Program was Maulidya Dwi Nuraini from the Biology Bachelor’s Program, with a GPA of 3.86, after a study period of 3 years, 10 months, and 16 days. The fastest graduate was Siti Afidatu Rohmah from the Biology Bachelor’s Program, with a GPA of 3.72, after a study period of 3 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
The motivational speech at the graduation ceremony was delivered by Ianuar Teguh Priambodo, S.Si., a 2008 alumnus of the Physics Bachelor’s Program. The owner of Toga Media encouraged the graduates to overcome feelings of inferiority and discouragement, even though a small number still underestimated the value of a science degree. “We prove it with a strong work ethic and competitiveness, as we have been equipped with both soft and hard skills during our studies,” he said. He also emphasized that when working in a company, remember to keep learning, as he himself has taken advantage of managerial and business opportunities.
Ianuar also referred to the Dean’s statement that FMIPA graduates can work anywhere. He has worked for four companies in various positions while learning for the future. “So, take advantage of your work experience, learn, and if you aspire to be an entrepreneur, you already have the knowledge. Anything is possible as long as you have a clear direction,” he concluded. The graduation ceremony concluded with a prayer, hoping for future success for all graduates. The graduates will attend the graduation ceremony this coming weekend at the Jember University Auditorium.
