The Dean of the FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., encouraged the new class of 2026 to chant the slogan at the beginning of the new student inauguration speech at the FMIPA UNEJ PPKMB. (8/8) “The FMIPA UNEJ, Be Creative, Innovative, Achieve!!!,” said the Dean, as all participants followed. He stated that the slogan embodies the spirit of new students, a generation that is imbued with creativity, innovation, and achievement. “FMIPA students must be creative, which will be recognized by the SKPI, and to achieve this, they must be able to innovate to achieve success at all levels of study and in competitions,” he continued. The Dean also expected new students to apply the FMIPA jargon to the fullest, aligning with the FMIPA tagline, “3.5 to the power of 4.”
This aligns with the 2026 UNEJ PKKMB theme, “Innovative Work Creates an Excellent and Impactful Generation,” and the tagline, “Excellent, Innovative, Impactful.” Prof. Dafik stated that the 3.5 to the power of 4 is very appropriate. First, FMIPA students should aim for their thesis exams within 3.5 years, and second, they should aim for a GPA of 3.5 to compete in the job market. “The next 3.5 represents the 3.5-month waiting period for FMIPA graduates to find employment, and finally, 3.5 million is the first salary FMIPA graduates receive,” said the Dean, who was accompanied by the Vice Deans, Head of Department Secretaries, Study Program Coordinators, the Head of General Affairs, and the Deputy Coordinators.
Previously, the new students participated in the New Student Inauguration Ceremony and the Opening Ceremony for Introduction to PKKMB 2026 at the UNEJ Stadium. The FMIPA students, along with 9,857 other new students, were inaugurated by UNEJ Rector Iwan Taruna. In his remarks, the Rector encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunity to study at the University of Jember not only to obtain academic degrees, but also to develop critical thinking skills, strengthen character, and foster a sense of community. This message serves as a foundation for all new students to actively and responsibly engage in the learning process throughout their studies at UNEJ.
The Vice Dean II introduced the leadership within the FMIPA UNEJ environment, followed by the official inauguration of the 2026 new FMIPA students by the Dean. The welcoming ceremony concluded with a group photo. Following the inauguration ceremony, the new students will attend classes on Monday. A total of 454 participants participated, comprising 106 new students from the Mathematics Study Program, 79 from the Physics Study Program, 123 from the Chemistry Study Program, 126 from the Biology Study Program, and 20 from the Data Science Study Program. Taking place from August 10-14, 2026 and closing next Saturday.
