“Let us welcome the 2026 FMIPA new students with friendly service and, in accordance with the UNEJ Rector’s directive, ensure the orientation is free from any form of violence,” stated Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, during the coordination meeting for the 2026 FMIPA PKKMB committee (4/8). The Dean also encouraged the committee to provide excellent service to ensure a positive first impression for the new students. “A friendly smile will help new students feel at ease; continue providing excellent service, ensure facilities and infrastructure are ready, and make cleanliness a priority,” he remarked. The Dean also expressed hope that student mentors would adopt the same approach when guiding the new students.

The University of Jember is committed to a violence-free orientation, as evidenced by the signing of the Integrity Pact for the 2026 PKKMB during the routine Harmoni Pagi event at the FKIP. UNEJ Rector Iwan Taruna conveyed five messages regarding the implementation of the PKKMB, with the final message emphasizing the creation of an environment safe from all forms of violence. Addressing the deans in attendance, Iwan Taruna stressed that the 2026 UNEJ PKKMB must be free from any violence. Consequently, the Dean called upon the committee to assist in overseeing the orientation proceedings at FMIPA UNEJ.

For reference, the 2026 University of Jember PKKMB begins with the official induction of new students by the Rector on Saturday, August 8, at the UNEJ stadium. The series of events continues from Monday, August 10, culminating in the new student inauguration ceremony on Saturday, August 15, 2026. FMIPA has coordinated the preparation of facilities and infrastructure and arranged for lecturers to serve as presenters for the UNEJ 2026 PKKMB (New Student Orientation) program. A total of 454 participants from FMIPA will take part, comprising new students from the following study programs: Mathematics (106), Physics (79), Chemistry (123), Biology (126), and Data Science (20).

During the UNEJ 2026 PKKMB, new students will receive information on the higher education system; the curriculum and the “Diktisaintek Berdampak” program; civic life and nationhood; values, culture, and ethics; and the nature of higher education in the digital era. The program will also offer tips and tricks for achieving academic and personal success. To support these efforts, a “Training of the Trainers” (ToT) session was held at the University of Jember Auditorium for the lecturers serving as presenters. In a final message, the Dean of FMIPA urged all committee members to prioritize their health to ensure the 2026 PKKMB at FMIPA proceeds safely and comfortably for the new students.
