Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Graduation Ceremony, Jember University, Period 8, Academic Year 2025/2026

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University held the 83rd Postgraduate (S2) and 117th Undergraduate (B2) Graduation Ceremony for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University, Period 8, Academic Year 2025/2026 (February 5). The ceremony took place in the Physics Department Auditorium, FMIPA, Jember University. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies at FMIPA. He encouraged the graduates to prepare themselves to become competitive graduates. “Today’s world of work has changed, not only in terms of human resources but also in terms of the rise of AI, making them a significant competitor,” he began. Therefore, the graduates must increase their creativity to compete with AI, and this competition can even lead to prototypes that AI does not yet possess.

Prof. Dafik stated that the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), with its motto of “creativity,” will continue to produce alumni who are not solely focused on their GPA. Supported by this motto, creativity will enable graduates to be independent and competitive. “With the FMIPA motto of “creative and innovative,” we foster a strong mentality toward future achievements that can be achieved, and FMIPA is also committed to this through the tagline “3.5 to the power of 4,” he continued. Prof. Dafik advised the graduates to balance prayer and effort to achieve success. The Dean of FMIPA led an open meeting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans II and III of FMIPA. All members of the FMIPA senate, as well as invited representatives from the teaching and administrative staff of FMIPA UNEJ, were present.

Next, the reading of the decree of the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ regarding the 83rd Postgraduate (S2) and 117th Undergraduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period 8, Academic Year 2025/2026 by the Deputy Dean I of FMIPA Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D. Followed by congratulations from the Deans, Deputy Deans and Heads of Departments to all graduates. In this period’s graduation, the highest GPA graduate of the Masters Program was achieved by Shafa Nasrullah, S.Si. from the Biology Masters Study Program with a perfect GPA of 4.00 with a study period of 1 year 9 months 13 days. Meanwhile, the highest GPA graduate of the Undergraduate Program was achieved by Nayla Adila Taqiyya from the Biology Bachelor’s Study Program with a GPA of 3.85 with a study period of 3 years 11 months 8 days. The fastest graduate was Deka Agbal Muksami from the Bachelor of Mathematics study program with a GPA of 3.82 and a study period of 3 years, 2 months, and 18 days.

The motivational speech at the graduation ceremony was delivered by Jam’iyatul Fitria, S.Si., an alumna of the Bachelor of Chemistry study program, class of 2011. Fitri, as she is familiarly known, said that the graduates would face a new life, just like she had experienced. “After graduation, I immediately prepared myself for the workforce by searching for job openings and sharpening my skills to prepare for job applications,” she said. The owner of the children’s book supplier, Bukuanakkomar, shared her struggle to become a civil servant through several stages, from finding the right position for her field of study to undergoing training for the SKD (Basic Competency Selection) and SKB (Field Competency Selection) in the civil servant selection process.

Fitri also encouraged graduates with interests or hobbies to channel their interests into entrepreneurship, like herself. “Because of my love for books, especially children’s books, that hobby has become a business until now and also become a civil servant PLP staff in the science laboratory FKIP UNEJ which is the same field of science while studying Chemistry FMIPA UNEJ, both go hand in hand and produce results,” she concluded. The graduation ceremony closed with a prayer with the hope that all the graduates can be successful in the future. The graduates will attend the graduation ceremony next weekend at the Auditorium Building of University of Jember.
