Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the FMIPA UNEJ, officially opened the faculty’s 28th-anniversary celebrations in the FMIPA parking area on October 2nd. The event kicked off with the “SPORA CUP 2026 AURORA” tournament. In his opening remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of upholding sportsmanship during the competition. “Winning and losing are part of any match, but sportsmanship fostering mutual respect is paramount,” he advised. He noted that since there are always more losers than winners, acknowledging and respecting one another is essential in competition. It was also stated that the SPORA CUP serves not only to launch the FMIPA anniversary festivities but also to welcome the University of Jember’s 62nd anniversary in 2026.
“I am also proud of the athletic achievements attained by FMIPA students, and I have reported this to the Rector to demonstrate that, beyond academics, we also excel in sports,” he said. In his closing remarks, Prof. Dafik encouraged everyone to cherish friendship and camaraderie, engage in sports, stay healthy, and strive for excellence. Accompanied by the FMIPA Vice Deans, the Dean cut the ribbon, officially marking the opening of the 28th anniversary celebrations of FMIPA UNEJ. The SPORA CUP will feature competitions in basketball, badminton, futsal, volleyball, singing, and e-sports. Student delegations from every department are participating, with the event further enlivened by the participation of FMIPA’s academic support staff and lecturers.
Contacted separately, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the FMIPA UNEJ stated that the faculty’s 28th-anniversary celebrations would feature a series of academic events. “We are preparing a range of academic and non-academic activities to enliven the FMIPA anniversary and also to welcome the University of Jember’s anniversary,” he said. As in previous years, the program will include a national seminar, guest lectures, and special events commemorating the FMIPA anniversary. “We are still finalizing the agenda to ensure the celebration is lively and inclusive for the entire FMIPA community, marking 28 years since the faculty was officially established,” he concluded.
At the opening ceremony of SPORA CUP 2026, participant representatives from each department within the FMIPA including representatives from the administrative and support staff—participated in the parade.
