Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Participates in Series of 61st Anniversary Celebrations for the University of Jember

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences participated in a series of events celebrating the 61st anniversary of the University of Jember. The agenda began with activities to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (UNEJ). “We have prepared seven events to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and also to enliven the 61st anniversary of the University of Jember,” said Prof. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. Three international seminars, two webinars, a visiting professorship, and student competitions were prepared to enliven the series of anniversary events. The Dean of the Faculty stated that the three international seminars featured competent speakers from both within and outside the country. They included a professor specializing in gravity from Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and invited practitioners to share how to hone skills for the workplace.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, also actively participated in various UNEJ anniversary competitions by sending delegates. It began with a Fun Futsal competition between work units, which saw the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University (UNEJ) take second place in 2025. 3×3 basketball also participated, followed by badminton and table tennis, which took place in mid-November. Volleyball, using a new format, also participated, but was unsuccessful, finishing fourth at the end of the tournament. “We, the leadership, always fully support every anniversary competition each year by sending delegates and supporters to maintain the unity of FMIPA UNEJ,” said Prof. Dafik. Mila Hidayatul Aula, Physics Master’s Student, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Participates in the [in]Visible Power Female Leadership Camp in Russia

Mila Hidayatul Aula, a Master of Physics student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jakarta (UNEJ), and ten other participants received full scholarships. She outperformed more than 220 applicants from 20 countries who registered for the [in]Visible Power Female Leadership Camp program, held from September 21-29, 2025, in Obninsk and Moscow. Mila, along with participants from 20 countries, had the opportunity to learn leadership, public communication, and career development strategies in science and technology. She believes this global insight will have a significant impact on the world of research in Indonesia. “I personally want to encourage international research collaborations focused on the safe and sustainable use of nuclear energy,” said Mila.

Mila said honesty and self-reflection in her motivational essay were key to her success. “The committee wants to know not only what we have achieved, but also the reasons behind it,” she continued. Research and scientific communication help demonstrate that participants must have a passion for playing an active role and inspiring others. Mila also had the opportunity to learn leadership, public communication, and career development strategies in science and technology. Mila believes this global insight will have a significant impact on the research world in Indonesia in general and her alma mater, the University of Jember, in particular. Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period 5, Academic Year 2025/2026

FThe Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Jember University held the 114th Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony for the 5th Period of the 2025/2026 Academic Year (11/18). The ceremony took place in the Physics Department Auditorium of the Faculty. In his graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their studies at FMIPA. He also informed that in the next few months, UNEJ’s status will change from a BLU to a PTNBH. “If PTNBH becomes a legal entity (PTNBH), there will be greater opportunities for FMIPA to open new study programs, and this has been appreciated by the Rector, the closest being the data science study program,” he began. The opening of study programs will result in an increased number of students who will be mentored to participate in society, like the graduates at this morning’s graduation ceremony.

Prof. Dafik stated that strong alumni data is needed to track the progress of FMIPA graduates in society. “With this data, we are preparing an OBE curriculum that will broaden the reach of alumni and enable them to choose their desired career fields,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also expressed his hope that a bachelor’s degree is not the end, but rather a foundation for lifelong learning. “Continue learning, be consistent in your efforts, and ultimately you will achieve victory and success,” he concluded. The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences led an open meeting of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences senate, accompanied by the Vice Deans I, II, and III of the Faculty. Farewell Ceremony for Lecturers and Educational Staff of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember

As a token of respect for their service and dedication, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the farewell ceremony for the Faculty’s Lecturers and Education Staff (12/11) took place in the Physics Department Auditorium. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of FMIPA, the leadership, and invited guests, along with the 2025 FMIPA retirees. The four FMIPA retirees were Prof. Ir. Bambang Sugiharto, M.Agr.Sc., D.Agr.Sc., drh. Wuryanti Handayani, M.Sc., Drs. Rudju Winarsa, M.Kes., and Dulkolim, A.md. In his remarks, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., stated that the farewell was a special occasion. “It is truly special to see off our fellow lecturers and education staff as they enter retirement. They have provided service, contributed, and have become role models for us,” he said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) described them as role models, having fulfilled their duty to develop the nation’s next generation through their dedication during their service at FMIPA UNEJ. “These retirees can also be considered passive income for the institution, having instilled and imparted knowledge to future generations, and that will be a continuous charity,” he continued. Prof. Dafik also quoted one of the Prophet’s sayings: “The best people are those who live long and whose life benefits many.” In his closing remarks, the Dean expressed his gratitude to the institution and the retirees who have dedicated their knowledge, energy, and time to FMIPA UNEJ. CampusGov & Career Empowerment Webinar by Mochamad Noersjam Tohari, Deputy Director of Operations at PT. Surya Madistrindo

Badan Perwakilan Mahasiswa (BPM) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of East Java (UNEJ) held a CampusGov & Career Empowerment Webinar with Mochamad Noersjam Tohari, Deputy Director of Operations of PT Surya Madistrindo, a subsidiary of PT Gudang Garam Tbk, as a speaker. The theme was “Strengthening the Student Representative Body while Equipping Them with Soft Skills and Career Insights,” and it was opened by Dr. Esti Utarti, S.P., M.Si., Deputy Dean II of FMIPA UNEJ and also the advisor of BPM FMIPA. In her remarks, the Vice Dean II stated that the webinar was held to celebrate the 27th anniversary of FMIPA and the 61st anniversary of UNEJ. Mochamad Noersjam Tohari, familiarly known as Noersjam, shared insights related to soft skill development and preparation for entering the workforce. The webinar was attended by 210 participants from across Indonesia, including those from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. Participants included not only students but also members of the general public.

In his presentation, Noersjam emphasized that career readiness is determined not only by academic ability, but also by soft skills and behavioral competencies that demonstrate a candidate’s professionalism. He explained that initial documents, such as the application letter and curriculum vitae (CV), must be neatly structured, concise, and error-free to demonstrate the applicant’s seriousness in participating in the selection process. FMIPA Lecturers and Staff, Along with 1,195 UNEJ Civil Servants, Officially Take the Oath of PNS and PPPK Appointments

Twenty-nine lecturers and administrative staff from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at the University of Jember attended the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony at the University of Jember Auditorium on October 30th. They, along with 1,195 ASN from Jember, solemnly participated in the inauguration ceremony. The ceremony comprised 287 Civil Servant Lecturers, 129 PPPK Lecturers, 49 Education Personnel, 25 PPPK Lecturers for the 2025 recruitment period, 704 Education Personnel for the 2025 recruitment period, and one Archivist. The Rector of the University of Jember, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., officially administered the oath to the ASN, accompanied by the Chair of the UNEJ Senate, Vice Rectors, Deans, and other University leaders.

In his address, the UNEJ Rector stated that the oath/pledge is not merely a change in employee status, but also an increase in professional moral responsibility in serving UNEJ. “Especially for PPPK, it’s important to note that in the written contract for the next five years, performance will be assessed, which will determine their future. It’s fitting that PPPK and ASN will also receive remuneration,” he said. The UNEJ Rector advised them to continue improving their performance after their employment contracts become PPPK. Performance is key, influencing the amount of remuneration and determining the contract extension of PPPK. Continue reading
