The chairperson of the Jember University Senate, Drs. Andang Subaharianto, M.Hum., inaugurated six professors in the Jember University Senate Meeting at the Jember University Auditorium (17/4). Two of them are professors from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNEJ, namely Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D.,, as professor in the field of ecological valuation in the Department of Biology, FMIPA,, and Prof. Dr. Sutisna, S.Pd., M.Si., professor., professorld of photocatalytic material physics in the Department of Physics, FMIPA UNEJ. The senate meeting for the inauguration of professors was attended by UNEJ leaders, the chancellor and vice chancellors, senate members,, and stakeholders of the University of Jember. In his remarks, the Chancellor of UNEJ, Dr. Ir. Iwan Taruna, M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., said that UNEJ now has 93 professors. Since the period 2020-2025,, there are 5 top faculties that have new professors, namely FKIP, FEB, FP, FMIPA, and FTP.
“UNEJ continues to accelerate the increase in the number of professors, but not only quantity but alsoalso quality is maintained to support the performance of higher education,” he said. The chancellor of UNEJ hopes that the newly inaugurated professors can become enlighteners of science and morality, not only leaders in their fields of science but also rdians of academic integrity. “Professors can continue to be humble and continue to learn, continue to conduct research to produce work because the title of professor is recognition, not the end,” he hoped. Previously, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., read the biographies of the six inaugurated professors.
Prof. Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., or familiarly called Prof. Hari. Prof. Hari is a lecturer in the Biology Department, FMIPA UNEJ,, who currently also serves as Deputy Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ. Prof. Hari delivered a scientific oration at the inauguration entitled “Ecological Valuation in Maintaining Biodiversity and Ecosystems in the Era of Global Change.” The Surabaya-born woman completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Jember in 1989, continued her master’ss studies at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1998, and completed her doctorate at the University of the Philippines, Philippines, in 2015. Prof. Hari received the title of professor in the branch of science/expertise in ecological valuation based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 137491/M/07/2024.
Prof. Dr. Sutisna, S.Pd., M.Pd., or familiarly called Prof. Tisna, is a lecturer in the Physics Department, FMIPA UNEJ, who currently serves as the Coordinator of the Physics Masters Study Program. The man born in Kuningan, West Java, completed his undergraduate education at the Bandung Teacher Training and Education Institute in 1996, then continued his master’s studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2001. Still at ITB, Prof. Tisna completed his doctoral program in 2017. At the inauguration, he delivered a scientific oration entitled “Innovation of Photocatalyst Materials for Environmental Remediation.” Prof. Tisna received the title of professor in the branch of science/expertise in photocatalyst material physics based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 137495/M/07/2024.
