FMIPA UNEJ held the 76th Postgraduate (S2) and 108th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period VIII, Academic Year 2024/2025 (16/4). Held in the Auditorium of the Entrepreneurship Building, University of Jember. In the graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates on graduating and preparing to enter the real world, namely the world of work. “Congratulations, you have graduated and are now ready to enter society through the world of work or continue your studies,” said Prof. Dafik. Current job prospects include becoming teachers; it is said that the world of Indonesian education still needs many educators, and opportunities for FMIPA alumni can follow that with the PPG program.
Graduation is also about trying all fields of work because FMIPA alumni have the provisions. There are many job vacancies available through the internet pages that are widely spread. “You can start hunting for work through job vacancies on the internet; there are many opportunities spread across various fields and places,” he continued. Not only around the Jember area, Prof. Dafik also challenged the graduates to spread their wings to get job opportunities. It was also conveyed that for those who want to continue their studies, the master’s program at FMIPA has accommodated four fields of undergraduate alumni. At the end of his speech, the dean advised the graduates to be able to contribute after achieving their dreams. “Return to the alma mater to contribute in the form of sharing experiences and filling in tracer studies for alumni,” he concluded.
Furthermore, the reading of the decree of the Dean of FMIPA regarding the 76th Postgraduate (S2) and 108th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period VIII, Academic Year 2024/2025 by the Deputy Dean II of FMIPA, Dr. Esti Utarti, S.P., M.Si., continued with congratulations by the Dean accompanied by the Deputy Deans and Heads of Departments to all graduates. In this period’s graduation, Diah Ayu Utami, S.Si., and Luthfiana Mutiara Sani, S.Si., from the Biology Masters Study Program achieved the highest GPA graduate predicate of 4.00 with a study period of 1 year, 5 months, and 4 days. Meanwhile, the highest GPA graduate from the bachelor’s program was achieved by Dwifa Nuril ‘Alimah from the Chemistry Bachelor’s Study Program with a GPA of 3.83 with a study period of 3 years, 11 months, and 2 days. The fastest graduate was Charles Fernando from the Mathematics Bachelor’s Study Program with a GPA of 3.46 and a study period of 3 years, 10 months, and 4 days.
The motivational speech at the graduation was delivered by Haikal Idris Maulahila, an alumnus of the Biology Department, class of 2017. The alumnus of the Biology Study Program, Department of Biology, FMIPA, IPB University, shared his experience during his further studies. “Further studies will increase insight from various perspectives because you meet friends with perspectives in other fields,” he said. Haikal is proud to be an alumnus of FMIPA because the knowledge taught is fundamental to various fields of science. For example, even though it is from biology, during further studies there is a field of mathematics that is still used as the basis for completing research..
Haikal is now a research assistant at BeeCon, which is a collaboration between IPB University and the National Museum of Natural History, France. “Thanks to the knowledge I have gained, I joined the bee research as a research assistant from BeeCon,” he continued. Haikal said that for further studies, there are now many scholarships offered both domestically and abroad. At the end of his speech, Haikal invited the graduates to be able to compete with alumni from other universities. “Make the knowledge from FMIPA something unique to compete with and, of course, become valuable in the wider community,” he concluded. The graduates will attend the graduation ceremony next weekend at the Jember University Auditorium Building.
