FMIPA UNEJ held the 77th Postgraduate (S2) and 109th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period IX, Academic Year 2024/2025 (16/5). Held in the Auditorium of the Entrepreneurship Building, University of Jember. In the graduation speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D. conveyed a message to foster creativity independently. “After graduating tomorrow, you will be faced with the challenge of working, apart from working in government or the private sector, currently remote workers are in demand, of course with high creativity,” he said. It was also said that undergraduate graduates enter level 6 according to KKNI and to move up a level, additional education is needed.

To level 7 requires certification and to go higher requires further study, FMIPA has four master’s study programs available. Prof. Dafik said that becoming a bachelor is not the end, to be successful requires knowledge and meeting good colleagues. “When trying to work independently, knowledge and a good network of colleagues are needed so that you can achieve fortune and success in the future,” he said. With the provisions above, the judiciary is no longer dependent on employment from the government or private sector, but can be independent. “The era of Decentralized finance with its blockchain technology, I hope you can participate with the provision of knowledge from FMIPA UNEJ,” he concluded.

Next, the reading of the decree of the Dean of FMIPA regarding the 77th Postgraduate (S2) and 109th Undergraduate Graduation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, Period IX, Academic Year 2024/2025 by the Vice Dean II of FMIPA Dr. Esti Utarti, S.P., M.Si. Continued with congratulations by the Dean accompanied by the Deputy Deans and Heads of Departments to all graduates. In this graduation period, Nuzulul Rahmah, S.Si. from the Physics Masters Study Program achieved the highest GPA graduate predicate, namely 3.92 with a study period of 1 year 11 months 2 days. Meanwhile, the highest GPA graduate for the Undergraduate Program was achieved by Aventya Aurelia Cindy Azzahra from the Biology Bachelor’s Study Program with a GPA of 3.81 with a study period of 3 years 5 months 7 days. The fastest graduate was Cynde Aprillia Wulandari from the Bachelor of Mathematics Study Program with a GPA of 3.74 and a study period of 3 years, 4 months, 23 days.

The motivational speech at the graduation was delivered by Riyan Cahyo Setiawan, S.Si, an alumni of the Chemistry Department, class of 2011. The analyst at the KAN accredited Laboratory of the UPTD Environmental Laboratory of the Banyuwangi Regency DLH shared his experiences while pursuing his career. “Before working at the Banyuwangi DLH, I started my career as a QC in a company and I also worked as a marketing officer for a pharmaceutical company,” he said. To achieve this, Riyan needed persistent effort when looking for job vacancies and also relying on the FMIPA alumni network. Even with social media, you just need to be vigilant and be good at choosing and sorting job offers.

Riyan said that FMIPA alumni can work in several fields such as government, teaching, or government institutions. What needs to be considered is during the interview process, that is the key to success in applying for a job. They will be interested in us who are able to answer questions during the interview well. “We must have soft skills with good adaptation and become problem solvers and also have a good attitude with responsibility, honesty and leadership,” he concluded. The yudisi will attend the graduation ceremony next weekend at the University of Jember Auditorium Building.
