Agustin Dinda Prameswary, Jocelin Andiana, and M. Afriyanto students of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember angkatan 2019 completed the Independent Learning Partnership Internship Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) for 6 months at the Plant Conservation Center of Purwodadi Botanic Garden. “They have participated in an internship program which is based on a cooperation agreement, all of which have been prepared by the study program and faculty,” explained Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. It was further stated that the MBKM Partnership Internship Program is equivalent to taking 20 credits. To note, the Purwodadi Botanical Gardens as one of the work units of Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI) previously offered the MBKM program in the form of a cooperation agreement. FMIPA UNEJ, which is concerned with the MBKM program, responded and stated it in a cooperation agreement with KR Purwodadi. The programs offered are Research Assistant and Biological Collection Curator. Interns will get mentoring facilities, co-working space, access to research facilities and plant collections and of course internet access. To note, FMIPA UNEJ in implementing MBKM has carried out several collaborations with agencies, state universities, and the private sector. Among them Pusat Sains dan Teknologi Akselerator (PSTA) BATAN, Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Indonesia, RSD dr. Soebandi Jember, Bank Syariah Indonesia Jember Area, Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) as well as several state universities such as UNAIR, UNNES, UB, UIN Malang, UIN Jakarta, UNJA, and Udaya University Bali. “We facilitate our students to choose and take several BKP for MBKM program through a cooperation agreement,” said Siswoyo. Initial Coordination Meeting for 2022 FMIPA UNEJ: Improving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in Achieving IKU
“It is necessary to formulate so that the world of work can quickly absorb alumni, one of which is by making the institution known, such as participating in international accreditation. Besides that, it is also necessary to optimize the role of alumni, so that more alumni get decent jobs,” said Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember in the introduction to the Leadership Coordination Meeting within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences with the theme of Improving Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in Achieving IKU and technical services in the academic, general and financial fields as well as student affairs (10/1). In the coordination meeting held in the general lecture room of the Chemistry Department, the Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences hopes to seek international accreditation so that FMIPA can exist more. “Regarding the curriculum resume that has been submitted, we hope that the Department of Biology and Mathematics will continue with assistance from LP3M and involve the roles of UPM and GPM,” he hoped. Regarding Indikator Kinerja Utama (IKU), in terms of writing scientific articles, it is possible to achieve if they are designed properly, the number of research results will be more and more distributed by the community. In front of the Heads of undergraduate and master study programs participating in the coordination meeting, the Dean also said that GPA of FMIPA students was still below university’s GPA of 3.30. This requires an increase in learning instruments so that the achievement of the minimum score can increase without having to reduce quality. At the end of his speech, the Dean of FMIPA again touched on international accreditation to attract prospective master’s students. “It is necessary to strive for international accreditation so that it becomes the target of students, one of which is through the LPDP scholarship, so that the interest will be even higher,” he concluded. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of University of Jember has 4 Undergraduate Study Programs and 3 Masters Study Programs. Undergraduate Study Program in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Master’s Program in Mathematics, Physics and Biology. In the odd semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, FMIPA has 1654 active students spread across all study programs, both undergraduate and master’s degrees. All study programs are accredited B from BAN-PT, while undergraduate physics study programs are accredited A. ASIIN international accreditation is also being prepared, the Dean of FMIPA has invited all study programs to race to prepare. Learning facilities for students in each study program are very adequate, both classrooms and laboratories. This is to support the curriculum of the study program which also implements the government’s program of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Students are given the opportunity to choose the Bentuk Kegiatan Pembelajaran (BKP) to expand the knowledge gained while accelerating their study period. FMIPA implements several BKP MBKM by putting them in the form of cooperation agreements with several state universities. institutions are also private. The achievements of study program students at FMIPA have penetrated national and international levels such as winning the Silver Medal at iWareBatik International Hackathon Event 2021. On the research side, all FMIPA study programs in 2021 have held international seminars. The agenda is a place to exchange research information for lecturers in study programs with national and international researchers. To accommodate it, it also has a SINTA accredited journal and of course the Kelompok Riset (KeRis) is the spearhead of the implementation of research which of course collaborates with students in it.. Accelerate Undergraduate Thesis, FMIPA UNEJ Formulate Strategy and Integration with MBKM Program
“Through Bentuk Kegiatan Pembelajaran Studi/Proyek Independen, MBKM Program can be an effort to speed up thesis period and will have an impact on student’s study period in order to increase graduation standards” said Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. Dean of FMIPA, University of Jember. This was conveyed at the Focus Group Discussion of Perumusan Strategi Percepatan Tugas Akhir S1 dan Integrasi dengan Program MBKM at Meotel Jember (14-15/12). The Dean also conveyed that as a guide for students and study programs, Studi/Proyek Independen Team (S/P-I) has launched a guide that can be downloaded on the FMIPA UNEJ website. In the FGD which was attended by the Head of the Department, Komisi Bimbingan Team, and Studi/Proyek Independen Team, the Dean also mentioned the Dean’s expectations for all study programs at FMIPA to prepare ASIIN accreditation. ASIIN’s international accreditation that leads to IKU is international recognition,” he hoped. Also attending the FGD, Fenny Indriani, S.Si. alumni of Department of Biology angkatan 2016 which tells the experience during the final project. “I hope that the implementation of the final project at FMIPA will be accelerated, especially at the results seminar stage, maybe through this activity this can be discussed,” said Fenny who is now working at PT. FMIPA UNEJ launched Pedoman Pelaksanaan Program MBKM BKP Studi/Proyek Independen
After consignment some time ago, FMIPA University of Jember launched Pedoman Pelaksanaan Program MBKM BKP Studi/Proyek Independen (10/12). This guide was prepared by a team appointed by Dean of FMIPA UNEJ who came from representatives of the study program. “With this guide, it is hoped that students and their supervisors can carry out these BKP activities well, effectively, efficiently, and of quality in accordance with the national MBKM BKP activity standards,” said Deputy Dean I FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Siswoyo, M.Sc., Ph.D. Furthermore, guidelines were given explaining the stages of implementing BKP for Independent Studies/Projects, from preparation to evaluation of activities, for FMIPA students at University of Jember, especially for activities involving FMIPA partners who already have a cooperation agreement document (PKS). To note, FMIPA UNEJ has 2 partners for the implementation of BKP Study/Independent Projects, Kebun Sentool Jember and Desa Sumberwaru Situbondo. “In the next few days FMIPA will hold a discussion on integration of Tugas Akhir with MBKM BKP which brings all elements of Bachelor Study Program, Kombi S1 and FMIPA Independent Study/Project team,” he continued. Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held The International Conference on Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, and Computation (IC-MaGeStiC) 2021 online (27/11). MaGeStiC is the first international seminar for mathematics department, and is closing of a series of international seminars at FMIPA UNEJ after previously there were three international seminars, IC2MS in Department of Chemistry, ICPIAM in Department of Physics and ICOLIB in Department of Biology. MaGeStiC 2021 has the theme “Building Networks and Collaborative Research on Mathematical Sciences“. Chairman of IC-MaGeStiC 2021, Dr. Kiswara Agung Santoso in plenary session said that MaGeStiC presented 4 Keynote Speakers, Prof. Nobuaki Obata from Ohoku University, Japan, Martianus Frederic Ezerman, Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Fernando Marmolejo-Ramos, Ph.D. from the University of South Australia, Australia, and Prof. Marko Vauhkonen from the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. “IC-MaGeStiC 2021 also presented 6 invited speakers, Natanael Karjanto Ph.D. from Sungkyunkwan University, Republic of Korea, Prof. Indah Emilia Wijayanti from Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, Dr. Erry Hidayanto from University of Malang, Indonesia, Prof. I Made Tirta from University of Jember, Indonesia, Moh. Hasan, Ph.D. from University of Jember, Indonesia, and Dr. Kristiana Wijaya from University of Jember Indonesia,” he explained.
