The Baitul Ilmi Mosque Management Team, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember, held a sacrificial animal slaughter for Eid al-Adha 1447 H (May 28). Together with the academic community of the FMIPA, the mosque management slaughtered one cow and four goats. The Dean of the FMIPA, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., separately expressed his gratitude for the year 1447 H. The mosque management and the FMIPA community jointly slaughtered the sacrificial animals at the Faculty. “This year, the FMIPA community, along with the Baitul Ilmi Mosque management, slaughtered the sacrificial animals in the mosque courtyard. I express my gratitude for the trust of the sacrificers and also the committee for preparing the event,” he said. After breakfast, the committee prepared for the slaughtering, sorting, and distribution of the meat.
The reading of the sacrificers by Dr. Bambang Piluharto, a representative of the Baitul Ilmi Mosque committee, was also present. Several sacrificers were also present to witness the slaughtering process. A location was set up in the mosque’s foyer for slaughtering, sorting, and distributing the sacrificial meat. Four goats were slaughtered first by professionals brought in by the mosque committee. Then, the cows, which required several people, were slaughtered. In one fell swoop, the professional slaughterers completed their task in accordance with Islamic law. The committee, having prepared the equipment, immediately got to work, coordinated by Miftahul Ulum, S.KM., from the general sub-section of the FMIPA, UNEJ.

This annual togetherness strengthens the camaraderie of the entire FMIPA community. Some skinned, butchered, deboned, and weighed the animals. “Without any special assignments, the FMIPA community and the IONS students immediately got to work and participated in the slaughtering of the sacrificial animals,” said Dr. Piluharto. Bambang Piluharto. The committee enthusiastically carried out their duties, equipped with equipment provided by the committee and also brought from their respective homes.
Before the Dhuhr prayer time arrived, all the rituals were completed. Several hundred plastic bags of sacrificial meat were ready for distribution. In accordance with sharia law, the distribution of sacrificial meat to the sacrificers was led directly by Miftahul Ulum, S.KM. The committee was tasked with not only cutting and sorting the meat but also assisting with distribution. “Each committee member is asked to help distribute the sacrificial meat around the residents’ homes,” explained Mr. Ulum. Afterward, the slaughterhouse was cleaned up. Happy Eid al-Adha 1447 H.
