FMIPA UNEJ Internal Workshop Presents Prof. Amin Setyo Laksono from Brawijaya University

In an effort to ensure the quality of education at the Program Studi (PS) and Unit Pengelola Program Studi (UPPS) levels, FMIPA UNEJ held an internal workshop at FMIPA UNEJ in the Ecology R. Biology Department, FMIPA (3/5). Present as a resource person was Prof. Amin Setyo Laksono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., from Brawijaya University Malang. Taking the theme “Kiat Praktis Menjamin Keunggulan dan Rekognisi PS dalam Penyelenggaraan Tri Dharma PT di Level Internasional”  the workshop was attended by the Head of Department, Secretary of Department, Study Program Coordinator, and 5 representative lecturers for each study program at FMIPA UNEJ. Prof. Amin was accompanied by Deputy Dean of FMIPA, Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., as the event moderator.

In his presentation, Prof. Amin explained the legal basis that is used as a reference for accreditation and why there is now conditional accreditation status. “Now, there is a conditional status to provide evaluation results that do not harm the study program and also to give the study program the opportunity to make improvements,” he initially said. It is also necessary to understand the assessment matrix and also know the weighting of items in order to know the highest points that can be achieved. “You can pay attention to the points and weights in service research as well as our student publications, also in the LKPS section,” said Prof. Amin is also the Head of Biology Masters Study Program, FMIPA, Brawijaya University, Malang. Biology Undergraduate Study Program FMIPA UNEJ has now achieved full ASIIN International Accreditation

After receiving accreditation for a year and having fulfilled several requirements, the Biology Undergraduate Program FMIPA UNEJ has now succeeded in achieving full international accreditation from the Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik, or ASIIN. Several stages of assessment have been carried out since it was submitted in December 2022. The struggle continued until July 2023 to obtain limited recognition for one year, and has now been paid off with full accreditation until September 2028.

ASIIN accreditation of the Biology Undergraduate Program FMIPA UNEJ is in accordance with Level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework for Life-long Learning (EQF LLL). Accreditation Letter signed by Dr. Iring Wasser as Managing Director who was present during the ASIIN visit some time ago. Also signed by Prof. Dr. Kathrin Lehmann and Prof. Gert. Ingold as Chairperson of the Accreditation Commission. The accreditation letter dated April 9 2024 will be an encouragement for FMIPA Biology study program managers to improve national accreditation, namely LAMSAMA, next year. With hopes like the Biology Masters Study Program which has been accredited UNGGUL.

Physics Master Study Program, FMIPA University of Jember Achieves UNGGUL Accreditation Predicate from LAMSAMA

Good news is here again for the FMIPA academic community at Jember University. Physics Master Study Program, FMIPA University of Jember  achieved UNGGUL accreditation. Contained in the decision of the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) Number 022/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/M/IV/2024 dated April 1, 2024. The achievement of this superior accreditation is very encouraging for the Physics Masters Study Program and also for all residents of FMIPA UNEJ. This is because some time ago the Biology Masters Study Program FMIPA also achieved UNGGUL accreditation, so there are already 4 study programs at the FMIPA University of Jember that have successfully achieved accreditation with a UNGGUL rating from LAMSAMA..

The success of the Physics Master’s Study Program is an effort made by all parties. The Physics Master’s Study Program, through its accreditation team, prepares forms, supported by lecturers, students, alumni, and other stakeholders working together to achieve the title of UNGGUL accreditation. Jember University leadership also plays a role and supports the LAMSAMA accreditation process, which is carried out by all work units within UNEJ. During the field assessment, Vice Rector I of UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., was present to accompany the field assessment process by delivering a presentation about the profile of University of Jember. Continue reading

FMIPA University of Jember Collaborates with FMIPA University of Mataram

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (FMIPA UNEJ) collaborates with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram (FMIPA UNRAM). This collaboration was marked by the signing of Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) between the Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Dean of FMIPA UNRAM, Dr. Rahadi Wirawan, S.Si., M.Si., online (7/3). The signing of the PKS manuscript was also attended by the Deputy Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and collaboration teams from both faculties. According to the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, the implementation of cooperation with FMIPA UNRAM has begun even before the signing of the manuscript.

“Implementation of arrangements, or IA, in the field of publication is ready to be carried out even before signing the PKS manuscript; this will help with reporting or output from the collaboration that we will carry out,” began the Dean of FMIPA at UNEJ. It was also conveyed that at FMIPA UNEJ, there are several SINTA-accredited journals that are ready to collaborate to realize the scope of cooperation between the two faculties. We hope that in the future we can visit each other to see directly the infrastructure of the two faculties and strengthen friendship and cooperation. Continue reading

LAMSAMA Accreditation Field Assessment of Master of Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University

The Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA) team held a field assessment of the accreditation of the FMIPA UNEJ Physics Master’s Study Program. Vice Chancellor I University of Jember Prof. Drs. Slamin, M.Comp.Sc., Ph.D., together with Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achamd Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., accompany the assessor team at the opening of the field assessment (22/02). The assessor team consists of Prof. Dr. Mitrayana, S.Si., MSi., from Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta and Prof. Drs. Triyanta, M.S., Ph.D., from Institut Teknologi Bandung.

Vice Chancellor UNEJ Prof. Slamin delivered a presentation on the University of Jember Profile. In his presentation, the vision and mission, faculty, postgraduate studies, study programs, teaching staff, educational staff, and active students at UNEJ were presented, as well as UNEJ’s achievements and the direction of UNEJ’s development from 2004 to 2028. “In recent years, the accreditation of study programs with superior achievements at UNEJ has increased, in line with several achievements at national and international levels,” he explained. Moving Quickly, UNEJ FMIPA Chemistry Master’s Study Program Implements Benchmarking

After the official opening of early 2024, the Master of Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jember University, carried out benchmarking (29/1). Extraordinary, accompanied by Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D. Professor of Biochemistry at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), who is also former Rector of ITB and former Chancellor of Pertamina University. Also present at the benchmarking was Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si., Deputy Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Airlangga University. Taking place in the FMIPA Chemistry Department meeting room, all chemistry master’s study program lecturers gained insight into study program management.

Plt Dean of FMIPA UNEJ and Vice Dean I of FMIPA, who are also chemistry lecturers, took part in the presentations from the two experts. It was discussed in detail, starting from recruiting new students, designing the curriculum, improving the quality of lecturers, supporting research groups for students, scholarships or UKT assistance, as well as research funds. Student recruitment can be targeted in the eastern regions of Indonesia and Kalimantan through chemistry education methods. “Hold a pretest and posttest for master’s student recruitment; for foreign students, you can collaborate with embassies with financing agreements,” said Prof. Akhmaloka.
