Department of Biology FMIPA UNEJ held The Fourth International Confrerence on Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ICOLIB) 2021

Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held The 4th International Conference on Life Sciences and Biotechnology (ICOLIB) 2021 online (15-16/11). ICOLIB is an international seminar which is held every two years. The first ICOLIB was held in 2015, followed by second in 2017, and the third in 2019. In 2021, The 4th ICOLIB has the theme “Towards Sustainable Development: Application of Biosciences to Improve Welfare and Quality of Life“. The Topics of 4th ICOLIB 2021 are Applied Sciences: Agriculture, Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, Basic Sciences: Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Biodiversity & Bio-coverservation, Health & Medicine: Pharmacy & Medical Sciences. The 4th ICOLIB 2021 presents 6 Keynote Speakers are Jorge A. Santiago, Ph.D. from the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, District of Columbia, USA, Prof. Dr. Ir. Antonius Suwanto, M.Sc. from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Bogor Agricultural University, Bogor, Indonesia, Prof. Elvira Horandl from the University of Goettingen, Germany, Prof. Simon C Griffith from the Department of Biological Sciences Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW 2109, Australia, Prof. A.G.G. Groothuis and Dr. rer. nat. Christina Bauch from Department of Behavioural Biology, University of Groningen, Netherlands and Dr. Kahar Muzakhar, S.Si. Department of Biology, University of Jember. Dr. Asmoro Lelono, M.Si as chairman of The 4th ICOLIB 2021 said that more than 100 researchers sent their articles to follow this agenda. “Incoming articles will be reviewed by experts in their fields to be published in Atlantis Press – part of Springer Nature,” he explained. TUK Pertanian Jurusan Biologi FMIPA: Bimbingan Teknis Kultur Jaringan Level II

Tempat Ujian Kompetensi (TUK) Pertanian Department of Biology, FMIPA, University of Jember held Bimbingan Teknis Kultur Jaringan Level II (6/11). Purwatiningsih, S.Si., M.Si, Ph.D. Head of TUK Pertanian, Department of Biology, FMIPA, started event by introducing background for competency test. “What is importance of competency testing? Because of global competition and also multilateral agreements from C-AFTA to WTO,” said Purwatiningsih, who also said that the TUK Pertanian, Department of Biology had been verified by Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi or LSP. icolib_pict1Departemen Biology Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences University of Jember with Universität Kassel Germany, organized International Conference On Life Science and Biotechnology (ICOLIB 2015) by title “Exploration and Conservation of BiodiversityThe activities were held in Ballroom Hotel Aston Jember on 28 to 29 September 2015 to bring scientists from several countries including Korea, Taiwan, Germany and from Indonesia itself. A number of experts from Universität Kassel Germany also appeared as a guest speaker in this activity. ICOLIB 2015 also the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Jember with Universität Kassel Germany in the field of Biotechnology.

INTRODUCTION

icolib-sticky2The explosive development of the sciences and its expansion into other disciplines such as the Life Sciences field is yielding groundbreaking discoveries from novel genes and bio-products to cutting-edge nanotechnology, resulting in a transformed science landscape with profound global applications in understanding life, eradicating diseases, securing a more equitable food and water supply distribution as well as creating novel bio-industries and products.

Based on these phenomena above, the ICOLIB 2015 with theme “Exploration and Conservation of Biodiversity”, will provide an interdisciplinary platform of life sciences for researchers, academics, students, professionals, industries, andpolicy makers. This meeting also proposed to among scientists and professionalsto stay at the leading edge of recent advances in life sciences and sustainability, act as a catalyst for further research, improve international collaboration while bridging the scientific and technological differences among scientists, and foster global health security.
