Implementation of Environmental Learning, FMIPA UNEJ Collaborates with the Jember Regional Forestry Service Branch

FMIPA UNEJ collaborated with the Jember Regional Forestry service branch (21/2). This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of the Jember Regional Forestry Service Branch, Sapto Yuwono, S.Hut., M.M. The Dean of FMIPA appreciated the collaboration as a step in implementing environmental learning. “Environmental-based learning requires the initiation of activities in the Jember forestry area, including education, research, and community service,” he said. It was also said that FMIPA has collaborated with fostered villages, so that collaboration initiation with forestry partners is needed.

FMIPA through the Mathematics Department with remote sensing can initiate collaboration with the forestry service. “Forestry issues that can be collaborated on with FMIPA, especially mathematics, require sharing sessions to find the right solutions to overcome problems in the Jember forestry area,” continued Prof. Dafik. It is hoped that collaboration will be implemented soon in the form of teaching practices, internships, or other activities that can be collaborated on. The Cooperation Agreement between FMIPA and the Jember Regional Forestry Service Branch has a duration of 2 (two) years since the PKS was signed. FMIPA University of Jember Establishes Cooperation with Faculty of Engineering, Bina Nusantara University

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (FMIPA UNEJ), has established a partnership with the Faculty of Engineering Bina Nusantara (FT BINUS). This partnership was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Prof. Drs. Dafik, M.Sc., Ph.D with the Dean of FT BINUS, Dr. Ir. Nina Nurdiani, S.T., M.T. (20/2). In his speech, Prof. Dafik said that FMIPA will continue to establish partnerships with several parties, both in the world of education and industry. “We, FMIPA, will do a lot of partnerships, especially in the fields of education and research. Today we are with BINUS, tomorrow with the Jember Regional Forestry Service Branch,” he said. With FT BINUS, FMIPA will collaborate on chemistry, mathematics, and physics in the engineering field.

Dr. Ir. Nina Nurdiani, S.T., M.T. also said the same thing: with FMIPA UNEJ, there will be guest lecture activities, scientific meetings, and postgraduate lectures. “In our research, we can jointly supervise students in the form of sharing research knowledge; we can also share resources and joint publications,” said Nina. It is also stated in the PKS, the two faculties will be together in community service activities in special areas. “Service will be carried out in special areas with the introduction of MIPA and engineering sciences in the form of prototypes, modules, and counseling,” she continued. The Cooperation Agreement between FMIPA UNEJ and the Bina Nusantara Engineering Faculty has a duration of 3 (three) years since the PKS was determined and challenged. Continue reading

FMIPA University of Jember Collaborates with FMIPA University of Mataram

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember (FMIPA UNEJ) collaborates with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Mataram (FMIPA UNRAM). This collaboration was marked by the signing of Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) between the Plt. Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Dean of FMIPA UNRAM, Dr. Rahadi Wirawan, S.Si., M.Si., online (7/3). The signing of the PKS manuscript was also attended by the Deputy Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and collaboration teams from both faculties. According to the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, the implementation of cooperation with FMIPA UNRAM has begun even before the signing of the manuscript.

“Implementation of arrangements, or IA, in the field of publication is ready to be carried out even before signing the PKS manuscript; this will help with reporting or output from the collaboration that we will carry out,” began the Dean of FMIPA at UNEJ. It was also conveyed that at FMIPA UNEJ, there are several SINTA-accredited journals that are ready to collaborate to realize the scope of cooperation between the two faculties. Increasing Potential and Resources, FMIPA UNEJ and Geopark Ijen Collaborate

Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D., signed a memorandum of understanding with Ijen Geopark, which was attended by Abdillah Baraas, S.T., as Chair of Ijen Geopark (5/1). “This relationship will expand the scope of cooperation that FMIPA carries out, with Ijen Geopark exchanging information and energy in various matters, especially in the environmental sector,” said the Dean of FMIPA at UNEJ. Also present at the event were two Biology Department lecturers who are also environmental activists, Dra. Hari Sulistiyowati, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Arif Mohammad Siddiq, S.Si., M.Si., who have collaborated several times with Geopark Ijen.

There is a lot of potential in the Ijen Geopark that is very possible to explore, including biosites, geosites, and culture sites. The Dean hopes that with the signed memorandum of understanding, there will be more joint activities such as community service research, especially the student MBKM program. “Students who take MBKM can join Ijen Geopark through internships, and lecturers can collaborate on research to utilize the potential of Ijen Geopark,” he continued. Ian Jones from Australia, Present at FMIPA UNEJ to Explore Cooperation and Nostalgia

Ian Jones from Australia came back to the University of Jember FMIPA like a father visiting his child (7/6). “Year 1991 saw a new MIPA building being erected and now when it is back again it is truly amazing how fast it is developing,” joke Ian Jones who is a consultant for the establishment of MIPA from IDP (International Development Program). Together with colleagues from the University of Jember, Ian Jones discussed the establishment of MIPA, from the establishment plan to holding several workshop.

Present on the occasion was the Vice Rector III, University of Jember, Prof. Bambang Kuswandi, Former Rector of the University of Jember 2003-2011 Dr. T. Sutikto, Dean of FMIPA UNEJ, Vice Deans, Chief Secretary of Department at FMIPA and old colleague Ian Jones who played a role in the founding of MIPA. “With developments like this, I am willing to facilitate MIPA with my former office,” said the man who really loves the natural beauty and culture of Indonesia. FST Universitas Terbuka Explores Collaboration with FMIPA University of Jember

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember held a discussion on exploring collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Terbuka (4/5). FMIPA UNEJ led by the Dean Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. accompanied by Deputy Deans and representatives of the Chair of the Study Program as well as lecturers involved in the collaboration. From the FST Universitas Terbuka, Dr. Dewi Juliah Ratnaningsih, S.Si., M Si. as Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation at FST UT, Athiefah Fauziyyah, S.TP., M.Sc. Head of the FST UT Food Technology Study Program, and Inneke Putri Widyani, M.Sc. BBLBA UPBJJ UT Manager from Jember.

Collaboration will be aimed at strengthening students’ knowledge in subject matter through application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of theory in the form of organizing practicums. “Collaboration is also to strengthen the comparative advantage or academic excellence of each tertiary institution, to improve the quality of education services, research, graduate competencies to resources with visiting professors and lecturers,” said the Dean of FMIPA.
