FMIPA UNEJ Alumni Sharing: The Importance of Communication and Self-Preparation, the Foundation for Successful Work and Further Study

Communication and self-preparation are the most important foundations that prospective graduates must understand and apply when working or continuing their studies. This was revealed at the alumni sharing event for periods V and VI of the 2023–2024 academic year (27/10). Presenting two alumni, Rofiki Fahim, S.Si., alumni of the Physics Department in 2019, who now work as physics teachers at MA Unggulan Nuris Jember as well as Naib Mudir staff at Ma’had Aly Nurul Islam Jember, and alumni of the Chemistry Department in 2013, Miranti Puspitasari, S.Si., M.Si., who is now QC staff at PT. Gading Mas Indonesia Teguh (GMIT).

“Now is the time for prospective graduates to establish themselves to continue working or studying, and they must prepare themselves as best as possible,” began Rofiki Fahim. He also explained the choice to work through careful consideration and, of course, preparing yourself to be able to compete for work. This man, who likes exact lessons, said that his love of physics has led him to now work as a physics teacher. “Even since high school, I have indirectly prepared myself with the knowledge that I am pursuing to be able to work in that field, namely physics,” he continued. Ready to Work After Graduation: Two FMIPA UNEJ Alumni Share Their Experiences

Jember University’s FMIPA Alumni Sharing was held again to welcome the graduation for the 3rd academic year 2023-2024 (6/10). Presenting two FMIPA alumni who provided experience entering the world of work after the graduation procession. Andy Setyawan, an alumni of the 2007 FMIPA Mathematics Department, started sharing his experiences with prospective graduates. “You need an advantage to compete with other job seekers, to be a differentiator so that companies will pay attention,” he began. Andy said that after graduating with a high GPA, it turned out that he needed to be supported by other capable skills. The ability to think critically, be quick and efficient, be able to multitask, and be ready to work under pressure is also required.

“We must have this in order to be able to compete with other prospective workers, especially since the company we are targeting is a large company,” said Andy, who currently serves as Control Room and Patroller Team Leader at PT. Solusi Bangun Indonesia, Tuban. He also said that when he applied for a job in the past, he armed himself with more skills in processing data via Excel. “Maybe you all ask, Why Excel? Because if we master Excel, it will be able to process thousands of pieces of data quickly and accurately,” he continued. Continue reading

Ethics and Skills Lead Niam, an FMIPA Chemistry Alumni, to Become a Quality Manager at Puslit KoKa Jember

“UNEJ FMIPA alumni have good logic that other graduates don’t necessarily have, because the emphasis in a job is logical thinking,” began Muhammad Bahrul Niam, Chemistry Department Alumni, at the FMIPA Alumni Sharing event (8/9). Niam, as he is familiarly called, tells of his struggles while studying at FMIPA, starting his career, and now holding a position at Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Indonesia. “I was one of the last residents while studying, but my determination to get a job was so high that I moved to Surabaya,” he said.

Niam continued that carrying out work requires a little “pencitraan“, of course supported by qualified abilities in the field of work pursued. “The image here is to show that we are also capable, that we can, of course, with the support of the skills we have, and I have applied that in Surabaya until now,” he said. The FMIPA UNEJ Alumni Sharing was attended by 30 prospective graduates and female graduates who will take part in period 2 undergraduate and postgraduate graduations at the University of Jember for the 2023–2024 academic year. Alumni Sharing, Alumni Experience Sharing Event for Prospective FMIPA UNEJ Graduates

Prospective graduates of FMIPA UNEJ before the Graduation ceremony the next day, took part in the Alumni Sharing event (10/3). The event is an informal concept, to make it easier for prospective graduates to interact with alumni in various experiences. “We design this Alumni Sharing as far as possible from a formal impression, so that all of you can ask alumni questions so that two-way communication is formed,” said the Dean of FMIPA UNEJ Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D. when opening the show.

The Alumni Sharing edition of the University of Jember Graduation Period V for the 2022/2023 Academic Year presented Heru Cahyudi, S.Si. alumni of the Bachelor of Physics Study Program who now works as Rizki Humanity at LAZDA Rizki Jember Regency. The next alumni is Dzurotul Mutimmah, S.Si., M.Sc. alumni of undergraduate and masters of Mathematics who are now lecturers in Mathematics Education study program, FMIPA, Banyuwangi University. Maezula.co Founder and FarmaX.id Co-Founder Invites UNEJ FMIPA Graduates to Become Young Entrepreneurs

“Being an entrepreneur requires struggle and perseverance, as well as understanding the opportunities that exist,” said Fani Atrica Suwita Founder of maezula.co and also an alumnus of the 2010 FMIPA Chemistry Department. Fani recounted the beginning of the struggle after graduating from graduation until now he is said to be successful in running a clothing business in front of FMIPA graduates at the event Sharing Alumni (20/1). “After graduation, I was a teacher at Balung High School even for a short while and my interest in business started by selling glasses with the Kacanica brand,” said Kak Fani, her nickname.

Fani’s struggles led to maezula.co through the use of social media which is loved by young people, leading her to enter the world of entrepreneurship. “Through FYP Tik-tok, my business has been flooded with orders tens of times,” he said, inviting graduates to take advantage of opportunities and maintain connections with many people. “Now, thank God, the business is going well and I invite younger siblings if they are interested in learning together to achieve dreams,” he concluded. Provision of Graduates to Enter the World of Work through the UNEJ FMIPA Alumni Network

FMIPA UNEJ held debriefing for prospective graduates as preparation for entering the world of work. Through the FMIPA alumni network that will help introduce and view the world of work. Presenting Abdul Kamil, S.Si, Head of Tegal Gede Village, Jember and Fiqh Maulana Yusuf, S.Si. Creative Section Head, Promo On Air SCTV, the event was packaged in a hybrid manner in the Hall of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA (09/12).

This debriefing began when the Dean of FMIPA, Drs. Achmad Sjaifullah, M.Sc., Ph.D, took part in the KAUJE National Happy Walk event in Jakarta some time ago. “When we met alumni, we discussed work and they were enthusiastic to share with their juniors about the world of work,” he said. It was further conveyed that FMIPA realized this debriefing so that the graduates would be better prepared to enter the world of work. Continue reading
